How to Adjust the Saddle Stitch Position

When you make a saddle stitch booklet, if you notice the following phenomena, you need to adjust the saddle stitch position.
The saddle stitch fold position is not aligned with the saddle stitch position.
The saddle stitch fold and saddle stitch positions are not in the center of the booklet.

Remedy

There are two ways to adjust the binding position: by entering a value or measuring the output paper.
IMPORTANT
This function is displayed only if the settings are made available by your dealer or service representative. Even if this function is displayed, do not allow anyone to change the settings except for the system manager. For more information on changing the settings, contact your dealer or service representative.
NOTE
Depending on the finisher you are using, the functions mentioned in this section may not be available.

Adjusting by Entering a Value (Adjust Saddle Stitch Fold Position)

Press  → <Preferences> → <Paper Settings> → <Paper Type Management Settings>.

Select the paper type that you want to edit from the list → press <Details/Edit> → <Change> for <Adjust Saddle Stitch Fold Position>.

Press <> or <> to adjust the fold position.
If you want the fold position to shift to the right while facing the printed side of the printout, increase the setting value.
If you want the fold position to shift to the left while facing the printed side of the printout, decrease the setting value.

Adjusting by Entering a Value (Change Fold/Stitch Position)

Press  → <Preferences> → <Paper Settings> → <Paper Type Management Settings>.

Select the paper type that you want to edit from the list → press <Details/Edit> → <Change> for <Change Fold/Stitch Position>.

Press <> or <> to adjust the saddle position.
If you want the staple position to shift to the right while facing the printed side of the printout, increase the setting value.
If you want the staple position to shift to the left while facing the printed side of the printout, decrease the setting value.

Adjusting by Measuring Output Paper

Press  → <Preferences> → <Paper Settings> → <Paper Type Management Settings>.

Select the paper type that you want to edit from the list → press <Details/Edit> → <Change> for <Adjust Saddle Stitch Fold Position> or <Change Fold/Stitch Position>.
NOTE
Press either <Adjust Saddle Stitch Fold Position> or <Change Fold/Stitch Position> to adjust both the stitch position and the fold position of the paper.

Press <Start>.

Select the tray with the target paper type loaded, and press <Start Printing>.

Measure the state of the fold position, stitch position and shift width on the output test page, and then enter <Current State> and <Shift Width (a)>, <Current State> and <Shift Width (b)> in this order.

Print the test page and then check the adjustment results, as needed.
