Error Codes and What to Do About Them

If an error code is displayed while you are using Document Binder, take the steps described in this section to resolve the problem. This section provides short descriptions of common error codes and what to do when they are displayed.

In some cases, it may not be possible to resolve the problem with the steps described here.
EBDV3
Could not retrieve configuration information from printer.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
Failed to obtain device information.
Remedy
Check the status of the printer.
Update the printer driver to the latest version.
Reinstall the printer driver.
Could not print because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
An unknown error occurred during print processing.
Remedy
Check the status of the printer.
Update the printer driver to the latest version.
Reinstall the printer driver.
EBNDxxx
Canon Desktop Document Writer is not installed. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
Carry out a repair installation of Desktop.
Could not start Document Binder.
Message ID: {0}.
Cause
Document Binder could not be started.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
Carry out a repair installation of Desktop and start it again.
Could not import several original documents. Check the [Original Documents]. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
Execute the import again.
Could not import this file. The file format is not supported or the page size is too small. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
Document Binder does not support that file.
Could not start Object Layout Editor because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
Object Layout Editor failed to start.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
Could not open iW Document File because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
An iwd file could not be opened.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
Check whether the version of the iwd file supports Document Binder, or check whether the iwd file is not corrupted.
Could not export as a PDF document because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
Conversion to PDF failed while exporting a PDF file.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
You cannot export a binder document as a PDF if the size of it is 2 GB or larger. If it is over 2 GB, specify the ranges of pages to export as a PDF, and export them separately.
Could not open binder document because an error occurred.

Cause
An error occurred while opening a binder document.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
Check whether the binder document file is not corrupted.
Could not move the page because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
An unknown error occurred during page movement processing.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
Could not rotate the page because an error occurred.

Cause
An unknown error occurred during page rotation processing.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.

You cannot print large binder documents. If the document is over 2 GB, specify a range of pages to print that is under 2 GB, then print the document over several installments.

Using the procedure below, create a binder document and execute the import again.
1. Open the document with the application associated with the document.
2. Select and print with the printer [Canon Desktop Document Writer] from the application.

Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
Execute the import again.
From the application that created the file, specify Desktop Document Writer as the printer and execute the print process to create an iwb file.

Printer information could not be acquired.
Remedy
Check the status of the printer.
Update the printer driver to the latest version.
Reinstall the printer driver.
Could not create preview image.

Cause
Creation of a preview screen failed.

Restart Document Binder.
Check whether there is a problem with the binder page.
Some pages ({1}) could not be imported because the width or height of the paper exceeds 1200 mm (47 1/4 in). (Message ID: {0})
Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
The file exceeds the page size that Document Binder can handle. Open the file with the corresponding application, and convert it to a binder document using Desktop Document Writer to reduce the size automatically, and then import it.
Too many objects included in this file. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
A file import failed.
Remedy
Divide the file and import it in several installments.
ECDC3
Could not set the printer because an error occurred.
Message ID: {0}
Cause
An error occurs when opening a Canon printer driver SDK.
Remedy
Restart Document Binder.
EPDM255
Could not convert this file. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
Could not import the PDF in Document Binder because it was invalid.
Remedy
Open the PDF with Adobe Reader, print it with Desktop Document Writer, and then import it in Document Binder again.
EWCM1300
Could not convert this file. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
An error occurred while importing with Word.
Remedy
Change any of the following optional settings for Word, and then import the file into Document Binder again.
Select [Basic Settings] > [Microsoft Office User Settings], then enter characters other than a space into [User Name] and [Initial]
Select [Detailed Settings] > [Print], then deselect the [Print in background] check box
EWCM1401
Could not convert this file. (Message ID: {0})
Cause
An error occurred while importing with Excel.
Remedy
You cannot import Excel files with the following settings.
The document contains macros and the security level is set to "high"
The document contains macros that do not function properly in the application
The document contains a hidden sheet
The document contains an empty formatted sheet
To import these files, either disable macros or delete the empty/hidden sheet.
