System Options

By installing system related optional accessories, the user can expand the functionality of the machine. This section describes the system related optional accessories and their functions.

For information on the optional products required to use each function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

PCL Printer Kit

The PCL Printer Kit supports PCL emulation printing solutions. It supports PCL5c/PCL6 emulation printing solutions.

PS Printer Kit

The PS Printer Kit enables you to use the machine as a PS printer.

It is also necessary when printing PDF files stored in memory media, or the Advanced Box of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network.

Direct Print Kit (for PDF)

The Direct Print Kit (for PDF) enables you to print PDF files from the Remote UI.

It is also necessary when printing PDF files stored in memory media, or the Advanced Box of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network.

Direct Print Kit (for XPS)

The Direct Print Kit (for XPS) enables you to print XPS files from the Remote UI.

It is also necessary when printing XPS files stored in memory media or an Advanced Box of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network.

Direct Print Kit (for PDF/XPS)

TheThe Direct Print Kit (for PDF/XPS) enables you to print PDF and XPS files from the Remote UI.
It is also necessary when printing PDF and XPS files stored in memory media, or the Advanced Box of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network.

NOTE
The type of Direct Print Kit you can use may differ, depending on the region.

Barcode Printing Kit

The Barcode Printing Kit enables you to print bar codes.

Super G3 FAX Board

The Super G3 FAX Board enables you to send and receive fax documents. You can also send documents that have been created in applications directly from your computer via the network.

Super G3 2nd Line Fax Board

The Super G3 2nd Line Fax Board enables you to use two lines to send and receive fax documents.

IMPORTANT
The following functions are only available with Line 1 (the standard line): Audible Tones On-Hook

Remote Fax Kit

The Remote Fax Kit is needed to use the Remote Fax function. Even if the machine is not equipped with the fax board, you can send fax documents via another imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine with the fax board installed on the same network.

Color Universal Send Kit

The Color Universal Send Kit enables you to send scanned documents by e-mail or I-fax, as well as send scanned data to be stored in file servers or an Advanced Box of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network. In addition to the regular PDF/XPS documents, you can also send compressed PDF/XPS documents.

Compact PDF or Compact XPS

A Compact PDF or a Compact XPS is a higher compressed PDF or XPS file than a normal PDF or XPS file. The text and image portions of a PDF or XPS file are processed separately to achieve a higher level of compression, which enables you to reduce the load on a network or server.

Universal Send Advanced Feature Set

The Universal Send Advanced Feature Set is useful when using the Send function on the machine. It enables you to send documents in the following formats.

Trace & Smooth PDF

The Trace & Smooth mode enables you to convert the text and line drawings of a scanned image to scalable outline data. The outline data (Trace) can be extracted and used in Adobe Illustrator. The smoothing process can also be applied to the text of the outline data to make it appear less jagged when viewed on a computer monitor or in print.

Searchable PDF or Searchable XPS

The Searchable PDF or the Searchable XPS mode enables you to perform OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract data that can be recognized as text from a scanned image. The text can then be added to the file to create a PDF or XPS file that is searchable.

Reader Extensions PDF

The Reader Extensions mode enables you to create a PDF file that allows you to make annotations, add digital signature, and save edited files even on the Adobe Reader.

Office Open XML

The Office Open XML mode enables you to create the Microsoft Office file standardized by International Organization for Standardization. This file can be sent in the PowerPoint format from the machine.

Universal Send Security Feature Set

The Universal Send Security Feature Set enables you to use the Send function on the machine with security. It enables you to send documents in the following formats.

Encrypted PDF

The Encrypted PDF mode enables you to encrypt PDF files that you send to an e-mail address or file server for enhanced security. Only users who enter the correct password can open, print, or change the received PDF.

Device Signature PDF or Device Signature XPS

This is a PDF or XPS file with a unique device signature. The device signature enables the recipient of the PDF or XPS file to determine which device generated the file.

Universal Send Digital User Signature Kit

This option enables you to use the Send function on the machine with security. It enables you to send a PDF or XPS file with a unique digital user signature obtained from a certificate authority. This enables the recipient of a PDF or XPS file to verify which user signed it.

Secure Watermark

The Secure Watermark mode enables you to embed hidden text in the background of copies. You can embed text, such as "CONFIDENTIAL," the date and time, or a department name. The embedded text only appears when the machine prints the copies.

HDD Data Encryption Kit

The HDD Data Encryption function enables you to reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked by encrypting all of the data stored in the hard disk of the machine.

Removable HDD Kit

The Removable HDD Kit enables you to remove the hard disk of the machine. By storing the removed hard disk in another location, you can reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked.

IMPORTANT
The Removable HDD Kit is only used for removing the optional 2.5inch/80GB HDD from the machine.

2.5inch/80GB HDD

This option expands the capacity of the machine's storage device.

When expanding the machine's storage device using the 2.5inch/80GB HDD, back up or export any necessary data beforehand. For information on backing up/exporting data, see "Backing Up/Exporting Data."

Document Scan Lock Kit

The Document Scan Lock Kit enables you to embed hidden user information or copy restriction information in the output when documents are copied/printed and reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked. It helps you to restrict scanning of the document (Scan Lock function) and identify the user that output the document (Tracking function). This option enables you to embed TL code.

The Image Data Analyzer Board, which is needed to detect the scan lock information, help restrict unauthorized copying, and analyze the tracking information is included with this kit. This option enables you to analyze TL code.

Web Access Software

The Web Access Software enables you to view Web pages from the touch panel display of the machine.

Encrypted Printing Software

The Encrypted Printing Software enables you to encrypt print data sent from a computer using the Secure Print function, and decrypt it at the machine. This enables you to strengthen the security of print data by preventing the contents of your printed documents from being seen by other users, and preventing the unauthorized use of confidential information.

ACCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM KIT

The ACCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM KIT enables you to restrict the use of various functions for each user. Restricting the Send function enables you to reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked, and restricting users from making one-sided printing of multiple page documents enables printing costs to be reduced.

Voice Guidance Kit

The Voice Guidance Kit enables you to hear voice navigation instructions when operating the machine.

Voice Operation Kit

The Voice Operation Kit enables you to hear voice navigation instructions when operating the machine. The Voice Operation Kit also includes a voice recognition function, which enables you to set the various functions of the machine using your own voice.

Remote Operator's Software Kit

The Remote Operator's Software Kit enables you to access settings or process job from a personal computer by displaying the machine's control panel on the computer screen.

NOTE
The Canon Fax Driver is supplied with the Super G3 FAX Board. This enables you to send fax images from a computer via the machine. If you are using the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2230/C2225/C2220, the Color Universal Send Kit is standard-equipped. If you are using the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2230/C2225/C2220, the 2.5inch/80GB HDD is standard-equipped.
