System Options

By installing system related optional accessories, the user can expand the functionality of the machine. This section describes the system related optional accessories and their functions.

For information on the optional products required to use each function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

The PCL Printer Kit supports PCL emulation printing solutions. It supports PCL5c/PCL6 emulation printing solutions.

The Barcode Printing Kit enables you to print bar codes.

The Super G3 FAX Board enables you to send and receive fax documents. You can also send documents that have been created in applications directly from your computer via the network.

The Super G3 2nd Line Fax Board enables you to use two lines to send and receive fax documents.

The Remote Fax Kit is needed to use the Remote Fax function. Even if the machine is not equipped with the fax board, you can send fax documents via another imageRUNNER ADVANCE machine with the fax board installed on the same network.

The Color Universal Send Kit Kit enables you to send scanned documents by e-mail or I-fax, as well as send scanned data to be stored in file servers or an Advanced Space of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine on the network. In addition to the regular PDF/XPS documents, you can also send compressed PDF/XPS documents.

A Compact PDF or a Compact XPS is a higher compressed PDF or XPS file than a normal PDF or XPS file. The text and image portions of a PDF or XPS file are processed separately to achieve a higher level of compression, which enables you to reduce the load on a network or server.

The Universal Send Advanced Feature Set is useful when using the Send function on the machine. It enables you to send documents in the following formats.

Searchable PDF or Searchable XPS

The Searchable PDF or the Searchable XPS mode enables you to perform OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract data that can be recognized as text from a scanned image. The text can then be

added to the file to create a PDF or XPS file that is searchable.

The Office Open XML mode enables you to create the Microsoft Office file standardized by International Organization for Standardization. This file can be sent in the PowerPoint format from the machine.

The Universal Send Security Feature Set enables you to use the Send function on the machine with security. It enables you to send documents in the following formats.

This option enables you to use the Send function on the machine with security. It enables you to send a PDF or XPS file with a unique digital user signature obtained from a certificate authority. This enables the recipient of a PDF or XPS file to verify which user signed it.

The Secure Watermark mode enables you to embed hidden text in the background of copies. You can embed text, such as "CONFIDENTIAL," the date and time, or a department name. The embedded text only appears when the machine prints the copies.

The Document Scan Lock Kit enables you to embed hidden user information or copy restriction information in the output when documents are copied/printed and reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked. It helps you to restrict scanning of the document (Scan Lock function) and identify the user that output the document (Tracking function). This option enables you to embed TL code.

The Image Data Analyzer Board, which is needed to detect the scan lock information, help restrict unauthorized copying, and analyze the tracking information is included with this kit. This option enables you to analyze TL code.

The ACCESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM KIT enables you to restrict the use of various functions for each user. Restricting the Send function enables you to reduce the risk of confidential information being leaked, and restricting users from making one-sided printing of multiple page documents enables printing costs to be reduced.

The Remote Operator's Software Kit enables you to access settings or process job from a personal computer by displaying the machine's control panel on the computer screen.
