NOTE
|
Intranet Fax is a function unique to Canon machines.
Data transmission not using a mail server, referred to as IP Fax and compliant with ITU-T Recommendation T.38 (Procedures for real-time Group 3 facsimile
communication over IP networks), is available on some other machines. However, these machines cannot perform Intranet Fax with Canon machines.
Standards for I-fax are defined by ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector). You can send and receive with other manufacturer's machines as long as that machine is ITU-T compliant. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE is compliant with Recommendation T.37 (Procedures for the transfer of facsimile data via store-and-forward on the Internet).
The I-fax function cannot communicate with IP fax machines that comply with the T.38 standard (LAN direct connection real-time communication).
