Using Subaddresses for Secure Transmission

You can send faxes using the subaddress function (a function that attaches a password and sends faxes to the destination's memory box).
If you enter a password with the subaddress when sending a fax, the document data is sent to a memory box in the destination's fax and stored. This function is convenient when sending confidential documents as faxes.
IMPORTANT
When using the subaddress function, the destination's fax must support subaddress communication.
Faxes can be sent using the subaddress function only when using a device that is provided with a fax board as standard.
For details about the options required for this function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."

1.
Click [Enter Destination].
See "Faxing" or "Specifying the Default Fax Settings" on how to display the fax driver screen.
2.
Specify the communication mode and fax number.
Select [G3] for [Communication Mode].
Select [Fax Number] for [Fax Number/URI].
Enter a fax number for [Fax Number].
You can select an address book from [Address Book List] in the [Select Destination] tab.
For details about how to select an address from the address book, see "Faxing."
3.
Select [Use Subaddress] → enter a subaddress and password in [Subaddress] and [Password] → click [Send].
4.
Click [OK].
If you are using a subaddress, data is sent to and stored in a memory box in the destination device. The data is output when the correct password is entered.

NOTE
The display may vary according to the operating system and fax driver version you are using.
When sending to multiple addresses, you must specify the destinations from an address book in the [Select Destination] tab. For details about registering destinations in an address book, see "Registering a Person in an Address Book."
You can set an outside line dialing prefix for each communication mode.
To set [Communication Mode], the communication mode needs to be correctly set to match the connection environment in the [Device Settings] tab. If it is not set correctly, wrong transmissions and transmission errors may occur.
