Checking the Dial Tone before Sending
The following redirection problem may happen with certain kinds of fax machines on the market made by companies other than Canon.
If you are sending a fax document from your machine at the same time another fax machine (made by a company other than Canon) is trying to send you a fax, your fax document may end up being redirected to that fax machine, instead of the original destination you had intended.
Setting Check Dial Tone Before Sending to 'On' enables you to avoid such sending problems.

If the phone line your machine is using is connected to a PBX or network adapter, you may not be able to send faxes if Check Dial Tone Before Sending mode is set to 'On'.

Press 
(Settings/Registration).
(Settings/Registration).2.
Press [Function Settings] → [Send] → [Fax Settings].

Press [Check Dial Tone Before Sending].
4.
Press [On] → [OK].
Select [Off] if you do not want to check the dial tone before sending.

The Check Dial Tone Before Sending mode is enabled only after you restart the machine (the main power switch is turned OFF, and then back ON). For instructions on restarting the machine, see "How to Turn ON the Main Power."
