Dither Pattern Settings
If you want to change the gradation pattern of a printed image, specify the dither pattern settings.
Dithering is a technique used to create the illusion of colour depth in images by a diffusion of coloured dots. A dither pattern is the data used for arranging coloured dots.
If you select the proper dither pattern for printing, you can make printed images with both smooth gradation and outlines.

Press 
(Settings/Registration).
(Settings/Registration).2.
Press [Adjustment/Maintenance] → [Adjust Image Quality] → [Dither Pattern Settings].

Select the dither pattern → press [OK].

[Pattern 1]:

The default setting for this function.

[Pattern 2]:
|
The proper setting for smoothing the lighter colour part of printing images.
Select this setting in the following situations:
When the toner is not applied on the paper which has slightly uneven surface
When smoothing images which contain lighter colour parts

Perform the automatic gradation adjustment.

Make sure to perform the automatic gradation adjustment (Full Adjustment) after setting the dither pattern as the colour balance may become unstable.
