Creating a Shared Folder

This section describes how to publish a folder created on the Desktop screen of Windows as a shared folder.
NOTE
A user account must be registered in the operating system. A password must be set when setting the user account.
Check and make a note of the computer name and user name for accessing the shared folder of the computer creating the shared folder in advance.
For information on restrictions on the locations where folders can be created, see the following.
1.
Right-click on the desktop, select [New] > [Folder] to create a new folder, and set a name for the folder.

Right-click the folder you created and select [Properties].
The [(name of the folder you created) Properties] dialog box is displayed.

Click [Advanced Sharing] on the [Sharing] tab.
The [Advanced Sharing] dialog box is displayed.

Select the [Share this folder] check box, and click [Permissions].

Select [Everyone] in [Group or user names] > the [Allow] check box for [Full Control] in [Permissions for Everyone] (for Windows 8.1/Windows 10, [Permissions for Everyone]) > click [OK].
The [Advanced Sharing] dialog box is displayed again.

Click [OK].
The display returns to the [(name of the folder you created) Properties] dialog box.

Click [Edit] on the [Security] tab, and click [Add] in the [Permissions for (name of the folder you created)] dialog box.
The [Select Users, Computers, or Groups] (for Windows 8.1/Windows 10, [Select Users or Groups]) dialog box is displayed.

In [Enter the object names to select], enter the user name and computer name you made a note of in the following format.
[Computer name]\[User name]

Click [Check Names] and then click [OK] when the user name is underlined.
The display returns to the [Permissions for (name of the folder you created)] dialog box.

Confirm that the user name entered in [Group or user names] is displayed, and select the user name.
11.
Select the [Allow] check box for [Change] in [Permissions for (user name you entered)], and click [OK].
The display returns to the [(name of the folder you created) Properties] dialog box.
12.
Click [OK].

Click [Close].
14.
Open the folder you created, and confirm that [Sharing] is displayed for [State] in the details displayed at the bottom of the window.
