Externally Publishing an Advanced Box as an SMB Server

This section describes how to externally publish an Advanced Box of an imageRUNNER ADVANCE device as an SMB server.
NOTE
Log in as a user with administrator privileges for the device to configure these settings.
1.
On the touch panel display of imageRUNNER ADVANCE, press (Settings/Registration) > [Function Settings] > [Store/Access Files] > [Advanced Box Settings] > [Open to Public].
2.
Select [By SMB] and press [OK].
You will return to the [Advanced Box Settings] screen.
3.
Press [Authentication Management].
4.
Select [ON] and press [OK].
You will return to the [Advanced Box Settings] screen.
NOTE
The settings of [Authentication Management] will take effect after turning the main power switch of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device OFF and then ON again. For more information, see the manuals for the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device.
5.
Press [Prohibit Writing from External].
6.
Select [OFF] and press [OK].
You will return to the [Advanced Box Settings] screen.
NOTE
Note that [OFF] is selected here because writing from an external source is allowed to create a folder or save a file in an Advanced Box registered to the Personal Library or Network Library.
7.
Press [File Formats Allowed for Storing].
8.
Select [All] and press [OK].
You will return to the [Advanced Box Settings] screen.
NOTE
If you select [All], you can save a file in any format in an Advanced Box. Be sure to select [All] when using the Advanced Box from Desktop.
9.
On the touch panel display of imageRUNNER ADVANCE, press (Settings/Registration) > [Preferences] > [Network] > [SMB Server Settings].
10.
Set [Use SMB Server] to [ON].
11.
Configure the SMB server settings.
[Server]
Enter a name which is not used by another computer or printer on the network in up to 15 characters. Double-byte characters are allowed but spaces are not.
[Workgroup]
Enter the name of the Workgroup that the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device belongs to using up to 15 characters. If no Workgroup is used in your environment, create a Workgroup on Windows and enter its name. Double-byte characters are allowed but spaces are not. Also, you cannot specify a domain name.
[Comment]
Enter a comment, as necessary, about imageRUNNER ADVANCE using up to 48 characters. Double-byte characters are also allowed.
[Use LM Announce]
If you want to notify LAN Manager of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device, select [ON]. Select [OFF] when LAN Manager does not need to reference this product. You can suppress the network traffic by selecting [OFF].
NOTE

12.
Press [SMB Auth. Settings].
13.
Select [ON] for [Use SMB Authentication], select [NTLMv2] for [Authentication Type], and press [OK].
NOTE
If the SMB authentication is configured, the confirmation message for entering the user name and password that have been configured in [User Access Control for Advanced Box] is displayed when you access the Advanced Box.
14.
Press [OK].
You will return to the [Network] screen.
15.
Press (Main Menu).
You will return to the Main Menu screen.
