Folder Monitoring

With Desktop, the following methods are available for monitoring folders.
Event Monitoring
This method sends update information for adding, deleting, updating, and renaming files/folders as event notification from a library to update the display in Browser, etc. Although this method enables immediate updating, it may not be able to handle updates that occur in quick succession. When monitoring libraries with Desktop, monitoring automatically switches to the polling method when events occur in quick succession.
Polling Monitoring
This method compares the list of files/folders in a library with the content displayed in Browser at a specified cycle, and updates the display with the latest information. Caution is required when using polling monitoring, because the content displayed may differ from the actual status of the folders if the cycle you specify is too long.

Restrictions on Library Types

When monitoring folders, you can specify whether to perform event monitoring, whether to perform polling monitoring, and the cycle for polling monitoring in Desktop. However, there are restrictions on the monitoring methods you can select, according to the type of library.
