Adjusting Fixing Unit Temperature

Adjusting suitable temperature for the fixing unit is required depending on the paper and it takes some time. By setting this function beforehand, you may be able to prevent productivity from being affected.
IMPORTANT
This function is displayed only if the settings are made available by your local authorized Canon dealer. Even if this function is displayed, do not allow anyone to change the settings except for the system manager. For more information on changing the settings, contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
NOTE
Adjusting this function may cause paper jams or poor image quality depending on the paper type.
Adjusting this function may affect the paper curl. Readjust [<Curl Correction Level>] if necessary. (See "Curl Correction for Each Paper Deck.")

Press (Settings/Registration).

Press [Adjustment/Maintenance] → [Adjust Image Quality] → [Switch Fixing Temperature Adjustment Mode].

Select the desired mode.
Details of each mode are shown below.
[Productivity Priority (Auto)]:
This mode is the default setting.
Suitable temperature for the fixing unit will be applied. This mode gives a priority to productivity, so the gloss quality may be slightly changed.
[Productivity Priority (Manual)]:
Suitable temperature for the fixing unit will be applied by setting the frequently-used paper type beforehand.
The mode gives a priority to productivity, so the gloss may be slightly changed. Select this mode to prioritize productivity from the very first page.
[Image Quality Priority (Standard Gloss)]:
This mode gives a priority to image quality, so productivity may be slightly affected.
[Image Quality Priority (Low Gloss)]:
This is a fixed temperature adjustment mode that prioritizes image quality. The gloss may differ slightly from the Image Quality Priority (Standard Gloss) mode.
NOTE
The changed setting is retained on the machine and will affect subsequent output operations. It is recommended that you change back to the previous setting after you finish the output operation with the changed setting.

When [Productivity Priority (Manual)] is selected, the most frequently used paper type is selected.
This prevents productivity from decreasing for the set paper type.
Check the most frequently used paper type and select it for this setting.

NOTE
If gloss cannot be permitted for a specific type of paper when [Productivity Priority (Manual)] is selected and the most frequently used paper type is set, adjust the gloss on that paper. (See "Adjusting the Gloss and Fine Black.")
If gloss cannot be permitted for most types of paper when [Productivity Priority (Manual)] is selected and the frequently used paper type is set, change to the [Quality Priority] mode.
If gloss cannot be permitted on most types of paper after changing to the [Quality Priority] mode, adjust the gloss of the specific type of paper being used. (See "Adjusting the Gloss and Fine Black.")
