Available Paper Stock

The paper types that can be used with this machine are shown in the following table. Icons indicating the type of paper loaded in each paper drawer can be displayed on the paper selection screen if you store that information in the machine beforehand. (See "Registering the Paper Size and Type for a Paper Source.")
IMPORTANT
For high-quality copies and printouts, use paper that is recommended for this machine. Using other types of paper may cause problems such as paper jams.
If you use the type of paper that is not recommended for this machine, contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
You can use various types of paper for this machine, however, you may not be able to get the sufficient image quality and paper feeding depending on the paper characteristics (stiffness, thickness, air permeability, smoothness, moisture absorbency, etc.). For the paper thickness for plain paper, for example, please use paper with thickness of 420 micrometer or less as a reference.
When you use textured paper, check if it is curled and correct the curl if necessary. If a paper jam occurs because the paper is curled, set the paper with the texture being parallel to the feeding direction.

*1 Some types of vellums cannot be used.
*2 Use only A4 or A4R transparencies recommended for this machine.
*3 The Tab Feeding Attachment-E is required.
*4 If coated thin paper is used for printing, it may become creased depending on the latest print jobs. In that case, keep the paper deck open for about 10 minutes to lower the temperature of the paper deck, and then start printing again.
*5 You cannot use paper whose weight is more than 350 g/m2.

*1 If the Finisher-AN/Saddle Finisher-AN is attached, custom paper sizes which are smaller than 330.2 mm x 487.7 mm can be output.
*2 Custom paper sizes can only be fed if they are between 139.7 mm x 182 mm to 330.2 mm x 487.7 mm.
*3 Custom paper sizes can only be fed if they are between 279 mm x 487.8 mm to 330.2 mm x 762 mm.
*4 For one-sided printing, you can load paper sizes between 210 mm x 487.8 mm to 330.2 mm x 1,300 mm. For two-sided printing, you can load paper sizes between 210 mm x 487.8 mm to 330.2 mm x 762 mm.

IMPORTANT
Use paper soon after it is unpacked as the moisture absorption condition of paper may affect the image quality and paper feeding. Wrap any remaining paper in its original package and store it on a flat surface.
When it is necessary to perform post-processing on a translucent film, set [Color] for the paper set in the registered user settings to [Translucent (Finishing OK)]. Note that, depending on the condition of the translucent film, it may be judged as a transparent film, causing a paper jam. (See "Changing the Color.")
NOTE
For instructions on loading paper, see the following sections:
"POD Deck Lite XL-A" for the POD Deck Lite XL-A
The Long Sheet Tray-D, POD Deck Lite-C, POD Deck Lite XL-A, POD Deck-D/Secondary POD Deck-D, and Document Insertion Unit-N are optional.
Chlorine-free paper can be used with this machine.

Storing Printouts

When handling or storing paper printed by this machine, be careful of the following points.

How to store printouts

Store paper on a flat surface.
Avoid storing printouts in folders made of PVC material, as this may cause the toner to melt and stick to the PVC material. Toner may peel when printouts are folded or creased.
Store printouts in the condition where they are not folded or creased as toner may peel.
Put printouts in a binder when storing for a long period of time (two years or longer).
Printouts may discolor when stored for a long period of time.
Avoid storing printouts in a location subject to high temperatures.

Precautions when sticking printouts with adhesive

Be sure to use insoluble adhesive.
Test the adhesive on an unneeded printout before using.
Before stacking printouts that stuck with adhesive, check that the adhesive completely dried.
