Discovering Devices

This section describes the method for discovering devices and registering them to this software.
NOTE
Up to 1,000 devices can be monitored with this software. Devices cannot be registered to [Monitored Device List] when the number of monitored devices exceeds 1,000.
1.
Access this software from a Web browser, and log in as the system manager.
2.
Select the [Devices] menu > [Monitored Device List].
3.
Click [Discover Devices].
4.
On the [Discover Devices] page, set the target devices for management.
[IPv4 Addresses]
Enter the range of IPv4 addresses for the devices to manage with this software. Enter the range of IPv4 addresses in the format "<start address>-<end address>" or in the "IPv4 address" format.
Example:
192.168.10.0-192.168.19.255
192.168.100.0-192.168.119.255
192.168.200.11
192.168.200.12
[Host Name]
Enter the host names for the devices to manage with this software. Enter each host name on a separate line.
Example:
3520v6.canon.com
5560v6.canon.com
[Add discovered devices as managed devices]
Enabled: The discovered devices are added to the [Manage Devices] > [Managed Devices] tab. Devices with the ability to send data to the Remote Monitoring Server are displayed in [Devices] > [Monitored Device List].
Disabled: The discovered devices are added to the [Manage Devices] > [Devices Removed from Management] tab.
The tab that devices belong to is not changed when devices are rediscovered with device discovery.
NOTE
An address range cannot be specified in environments operating with IPv6. In this case, register the device names to a DNS server and WINS server and enter the FQDN of the target devices in [Host Name] in advance.
5.
Click [Discover].
[Discovery History] is displayed.
