Secondary Transfer Roller Position Settings
You can switch the position of the secondary transfer roller to either a image quality priority position where image quality improvement can be expected or a thin paper position for jam reduction.
1
Press <Change> in <Sec. Transfer Roller Pos. Settings>.
2
Select a priority position of the secondary transfer roller position.
You can switch the position of the secondary transfer roller to <Image Quality Priority> (the image quality priority position) where image quality improvement can be expected. You can also switch the position to <Jam Reduction Priority> (the thin paper position for jam reduction) where a paper jam due to imperfect paper separation can be improved.
<Auto (Speed Priority)>: This is the default setting.
<Image Quality Priority>: This setting is expected to reduce uneven densities that scratch the toner image in the entire halftone image or horizontal streaks of uneven densities at the front or rear end.
<Jam Reduction Priority>: This setting is expected to reduce paper jams that occur at the secondary transfer roller.
If you select <Image Quality Priority>, a paper jam may occur.
If the image quality is not sufficiently improved even after selecting <Image Quality Priority>, the image quality may be improved by adjusting a paper conveyance support plate.
If you select <Auto (Speed Priority)>, paper with a basis weight of 67 lb cover (181 g/m2) or more may operate in <Image Quality Priority> (image quality priority position).
If a paper jam occurs in the secondary transfer roller when the paper is set to a basis weight of 67 lb cover (181 g/m2) or more, it may be improved by setting <Jam Reduction Priority>.
If you specify <Jam Reduction Priority>, uneven densities may occur.
3
If <Image Quality Priority> is specified, <Adjust Paper Conveyance Support Plate> can be performed.
When you specified the <+> direction:
If there are horizontal streaks of uneven densities at the front or rear end of the halftone image, the image quality may be improved.
When you specified the <-> direction:
If there are uneven densities that scratch the toner image in the entire halftone image, the image quality may be improved.
