Preventing Connection to Computer via USB Port

You can disable the USB port (Rear-right side of the machine) to reduce the risk of an external connection without going through a network with security measures.
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
On the control panel, press [Menu] in the [Home] screen, and then press [Preferences] to configure the settings. [USB Settings]
Administrator privileges are required. The machine must be restarted to apply the settings.

Log in to Remote UI in System Manager Mode. Starting Remote UI

Click [External Interface Settings] [Edit].
The [Edit External Interface Settings] screen is displayed.

Clear the [Use as USB Device] checkbox, and click [OK].

Restart the machine. Restarting the Machine
The settings are applied.
Even if you use this setting to restrict the use of the USB port (Rear-right side of the machine), memory media can still be connected to the USB port (Front-right side of the machine). To also restrict USB connection of memory media, see the following.
