Installing the USB Agent
This section describes the procedure for installing the USB Agent.
When managing printers connected via USB with this software, install the USB Agent to the computers that the local printers are connected to.
IMPORTANT |
The computer where the USB Agent will be installed must be included in either [Device IPv4 Addresses] or [FQDN for Devices (Do Not Include Device Name)] on the [Agent Details] page for either Agent displayed from the [Agents] page in the [System] menu. For details, see the following. |
1.
Log on to the computer where the Agent operates as a user with Administrator privileges.
2.
Access this software from a web browser, and log in as the system manager.
3.
Select the [System] menu > [Agents].
4.
Click [Download USB Agent Installer].
Save the "usbagent_installer.zip" file to a folder of your choice.
Extract the contents of the zip file.

Execute the "usbagent_installer.msi" file.
The USB Agent cannot be installed by executing the usbagent_installer.msi file without extracting the contents of the zip file.

On the [Welcome to the iWEMC USB Agent Setup Wizard] screen, click [Next].

Select [I accept the terms in the license agreement], and click [Next].

Specify the destination folder to install to in [Install in], and click [Next].
9.
In [Retrieval Interval (in Hours)], enter the interval for retrieving information from local printers.
Enter a value from 1 to 24.
Information is periodically retrieved from local printers at the specified interval.
10.
Select whether to perform certificate verification.
Select the [Verify the agent certificate] check box to verify the Agent certificate when the USB Agent sends information to the Agent.

To perform certificate verification, a valid certificate must be registered to the computer where the USB Agent is installed and that certificate must be configured for use by the USB Agent. For information on registering a certificate, see the following. |
11.
On the [Ready to Install iWEMC USB Agent] screen, click [Install].
If the [User Account Control] dialog box is displayed, click [Continue] or [Yes].
12.
On the [Completed the iWEMC USB Agent Setup Wizard] screen, click [Finish].
