Exchanging Faxes with Machines without a Fax Function (Remote Faxes)
This section describes the settings required for sending and receiving Remote Faxes and explains how to send and receive Remote Faxes.
Remote Faxes is a function for exchanging faxes and IP faxes where the imageRUNNER ADVANCE product equipped with a fax board functions as a server machine on the network and faxes and IP faxes are then exchanged with client machines. The client machines do not need to have a fax board.
IMPORTANT
The server machine must have the optional Remote Fax Kit installed.
To send and receive IP faxes using Remote Faxes, the server machine must support an IP faxes function.
Depending on the server machine's connection environment, IP faxes are received and sent via an intranet or VoIP gateway.
Send Flow
A client machine connected to the server machine via the network sends a fax or IP fax to the server machine (an imageRUNNER ADVANCE product with a FAX board installed).
The fax or IP fax sent from the client machine is sent by the server machine.
Receive Flow
The client machine receives the fax or IP fax.
The server machine forwards the received fax or IP fax to the client machine.
