Displaying Documents in the Preview Window

You can display the preview of a selected document in the Preview Window of Desktop Browser.
NOTE
You can change the size of the Preview Window by dragging the left boundary of the Preview Window.
Follow one of the steps below to manually refresh the Desktop Browser display.
Click (Refresh) on the address bar
Press the [F5] key on the keyboard
When you select one of the following types of documents, the message [No preview available.] is displayed and the preview is not displayed in the Preview Window.
Documents in the check out folder
Documents in the Recycle Bin
If the preview does not work well, you can specify the document not to be previewed. For more information on these settings, see the following.
The files that can be displayed in the Preview Window and the conditions for displaying it are as follows.
File type
Condition
PDF documents (*.pdf)
When a permission password is configured for PDF documents, they cannot be previewed.
For annotated PDF documents, the annotations are also previewed.
Documents with a page width or height exceeding 1200 mm (47 1/4 inch) cannot be previewed.
For documents with multiple pages, if you try to display a page with a width or height exceeding 1200 mm (47 1/4 inch), the thumbnail of the first page is displayed as the preview (pages cannot be moved or edited).
In this case, you can use the thumbnail view and select a document to display pages with a width or height that does not exceed 1200 mm (47 1/4 inch).
Image documents (*.jpg/*.jpeg, *.bmp, *.tif/*.tiff)
Image documents other than "*.jpg/*.jpeg", "*.bmp", and "*.tif/*.tiff" can be displayed, according to the codecs installed on the computer.
IWB documents (*.iwb)
The preview uses the current print settings.
For annotated IWB documents, the annotations are also previewed.
XPS documents (*.xps)
All XPS documents can be previewed.
Office documents (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint documents)
Previews can be displayed when the [Enable preview feature for [Explorer]] check box is selected. Even if this is not selected, large icon thumbnails are displayed as the preview if they exist.

Saved message files (*.msg)
If Outlook is set as the default e-mail program, previews can be displayed in the following cases if the [Enable preview feature for [Explorer]] check box is selected.
When Outlook 2007/2010/2013/2016 is used in Windows 7 (32-bit)/Windows 8 (32-bit)/Windows 8.1 (32-bit)/Windows 10 (32-bit)
When Outlook 2010 (64-bit)/2013 (64-bit)/2016 (64-bit) is used in Windows 7 (64-bit)/Windows 8 (64-bit)/Windows 8.1 (64-bit)/Windows 10 (64-bit)
[File] menu > [Option] > [System Settings] > [Browser] > [Display Settings] > [Enable preview feature for [Explorer]]
If the extension is *.msg and the default e-mail program is something other than Outlook, large icon thumbnails are displayed as the preview if they exist, even if the [Enable preview feature for [Explorer]] check box is not selected.

Other (such as *.xdw/*.xbd, *.html)
When using a 32-bit operating system, and DocuWorks or DocuWorks Viewer is installed on the computer, you can also preview DocuWorks documents (*.xdw) and DocuWorks binders (*.xbd).
If the [Enable preview feature for [Explorer]] check box is selected, documents that allow previewing can be previewed in Explorer.

Click a library or folder in the Navigation Window.
The folders and documents stored in the selected library or folder are displayed in the File List View Window.

Select the document to preview in the File List View Window.
The preview of the selected document is displayed in the Preview Window.
If the Preview Window is not displayed, click (Preview) on the ribbon.
In the Preview Window, you can switch between the page view and thumbnail view.
In the Preview Window, you can change the magnification factor, orientation and the page to view.
 (Page)
Previews the document by page.
(Thumbnail)
Displays the pages of the document as thumbnails. Can only be selected when a PDF document is selected.
(Zoom)
Click this to change the magnification factor with the displayed slider. The magnification factor can also be specified as a number. For more information, see the following.
(Whole Page)
Displays the document using the entire size of the Preview Window. Can only be used when [Page] is enabled.
(Grab Mode)
Enables you to change the display position if an entire page is not displayed. Can only be used when [Page] is enabled.
(Left 90 Degrees)/(Right 90 Degrees)
Changes the orientation of the preview.
(Previous Page)/(Next Page)
Changes the page to preview.
Displays the number of the page currently being previewed and the total number of pages. You can also jump to a page by entering the page number.
NOTE
When multiple documents are selected, the preview is not displayed.

This operation can also be performed with the tool buttons on the toolbar. If tool buttons are not displayed on the toolbar of Desktop Browser, see the following to display them.
Follow one of the steps below to hide the Preview Window.
Click (Preview) on the ribbon
Drag the left boundary of the Preview Window until it is minimized
Buttons in the Preview Window are displayed only when you preview PDF documents, IWB documents, image documents, or XPS documents.
Slide the scroll bar to move pages. Or, perform one of the following operations.
Rotate the mouse wheel in the Preview Window to move to the previous page or next page
Press the [↑] key/[↓] key or [Page Up] key/[Page Down] key on the keyboard to move to the previous page or next page
You can press the [Home] key while holding down the [Ctrl] key on the keyboard to move to the first page. You can also press the [End] key while holding down the [Ctrl] key on the keyboard to move to the last page.
You can also change the magnification factor by 10% by rolling the mouse wheel while pressing the [Ctrl] key on the keyboard while the focus is in the Preview Window. Rolling the mouse wheel forward and backward zooms in and out, respectively.
You can change the magnification factor in the range from 5 to 200%. However, if a page with a width or height that exceeds 482.6 mm (19 inches) is included, the maximum magnification is limited to less than 200%.
Highlighting is removed from highlighted, unread documents in a monitored folder.
