Starting and Exiting Printer Monitor
You can use Printer Monitor to monitor the device status and printing status and to manage sent/received print/fax logs.
Starting Printer Monitor
Follow the steps below to start Printer Monitor.

It may take a long time to start Printer Monitor for the first time if your computer uses the Windows XP operating system, is connected to a network, and cannot access the internet. (Example: When you can access the company intranet but not external sites.)
When another user who is logged into the same computer has already started Printer Monitor, you cannot newly start Printer Monitor.
The default settings of Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8.1 restrict icons displayed in the task tray area. Follow the steps below to display the Printer Monitor icons in the task tray area.
1.Select the [Start] menu (for Windows 7) or the Charm [Settings] (for Windows 8/Windows 8.1) > [Control Panel].
[Control Panel] is displayed.
2.Select [Small icons] in [View by].
All the Control Panel items are shown in [Control Panel].
3.Select [Notification Area Icons].
The [Notification Area Icons] window is displayed.
4.Select the [Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar] check box, and click [OK].
The [Notification Area Icons] window closes.
5.Close [Control Panel].
If you only want to set the "main icon", set [Show icon and notifications].

Start the computer.
Printer Monitor starts automatically, and 
(Main) is displayed in the task tray.
(Main) is displayed in the task tray.If using Quick Printing Tool, it starts automatically.

If Printer Monitor is not started, follow the steps below to start it:
For Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7:
Select the [Start] menu > [All Programs] > [Canon iW] > [iW Desktop] > [iW Desktop Printer Monitor].
For Windows 8:
Click the [iW Desktop Printer Monitor] tile on the [Start] screen.
For Windows 8.1:
Click
 on the [Start] screen, and then click the [iW Desktop Printer Monitor].If
(Main) is already displayed in the task tray, it does not need to be launched again. |
Exiting Printer Monitor
Follow the steps below to exit Printer Monitor.
1.
Right-click (Main) on the task tray, and select [Exit].
(Main) on the task tray, and select [Exit].Printer Monitor is exited.
If using the Quick Printing Tool, it closes.
Setting Not to Start When a Computer Starts
Follow the settings below to not start Printer Monitor automatically when the computer starts.
1.
Right-click (Main) on the task tray, and select [Printer Monitor Tool].
(Main) on the task tray, and select [Printer Monitor Tool].The [Printer Monitor Settings] dialog box is displayed.
2.
Deselect the [Start Printer Monitor at computer startup] check box, and click [OK].

Printer Monitor is set to start when a computer starts in the default settings.
