Available Paper Stock

The paper types that can be used with this machine are shown in the following table. Icons indicating the type of paper loaded in each paper drawer can be displayed on the paper selection screen if you store that information in the machine beforehand. (See "Registering the Paper Size and Type for a Paper Source.")
IMPORTANT
For high-quality copies and printouts, use paper that is recommended for this machine. Using other types of paper may cause problems such as paper jams.
If you use the type of paper that is not recommended for this machine, contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
You can use various types of paper for this machine, however, you may not be able to get the sufficient image quality and paper feeding depending on the paper characteristics (stiffness, thickness, air permeability, smoothness, moisture absorbency, etc.). For the paper thickness, please use plain paper whose thickness is 360 micrometer or less as a reference.

IMPORTANT
If you are using pre-printed paper, bordered paper, or colour paper, and the printed image is misaligned vertically as seen from the paper feeding direction, set to 'Off' for <Auto Adjust Left/Right Edge Alignment> in [Paper Settings] in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "Changing the Auto Adjust Left/Right Edge Alignment.")
Use paper soon after it is unpacked as the moisture absorption condition of paper may affect the image quality and paper feeding. Wrap any remaining paper in its original package and store it on a flat surface.
NOTE
For instructions on loading paper, see the following sections:
"Loading Paper into the Stack Bypass-B1" for the Stack Bypass-B1
The Stack Bypass-B1, POD Deck Lite-B1, Multi-drawer Paper Deck-B1, and Document Insertion Unit-M1 are optional.
Chlorine-free paper can be used with this machine.
The printed envelopes may be creased depending on how envelope is pasted together or the position of the flap.

Storing Printouts

When handling or storing paper printed by this machine, be careful of the following points.

How to store printouts

Store paper on a flat surface.
Avoid storing printouts in folders made of PVC material, as this may cause the toner to melt and stick to the PVC material. Toner may peel when printouts are folded or creased.
Store printouts in the condition where they are not folded or creased as toner may peel.
Put printouts in a binder when storing for a long period of time (two years or longer).
Printouts may discolor when stored for a long period of time.
Avoid storing printouts in a location subject to high temperatures.

Precautions when sticking printouts with adhesive

Be sure to use insoluble adhesive.
Test the adhesive on an unneeded printout before using.
Before stacking printouts that stuck with adhesive, check that the adhesive completely dried.
