Advanced Space/Network Settings

There are two types of storage locations in the Advanced Space; Shared Space and Personal Space. To use these storage locations, it is necessary to specify their settings. The administrator has to specify the various settings such as the user authentication management, allowing use of Personal Space, and Open to Public settings, according to your needs.

Advanced Space User Authentication Management Settings

The following settings are required to perform authentication management for users of the Advanced Space.
Register the users to perform authentication management for in "User Access Control for Advanced Space" (login service). (See "User Access Control for Advanced Space.")
Set [Authentication Management] to 'On' in [Advanced Space Settings] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting the Advanced Space to Be Opened Externally as a WebDAV/SMB Server.")

Allowing Users to Use the Personal Space

In addition to the above "Advanced Space User Authentication Management Settings," the following setting is required to allow users to use the Personal Space.
Set [Allow to Create Personal Space] to 'On' in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Allowing to Create Personal Spaces.")

Opening the Advanced Space Using SMB or WebDAV

The settings below are required to open the Advanced Space to the public using SMB or WebDAV. This enables you to open the Advanced Space of the machine to be used as network place, and enables the Advanced Space to be used from computers.
For SMB:
Set [Open to Public] to 'By SMB' in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting the Advanced Space to Be Opened Externally as a WebDAV/SMB Server.")
Set [Use SMB Server] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
If the Advanced Space is open to the public by setting [Authentication Management] to 'On' in [Advanced Space Settings] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration), set the authentication type by setting [Use SMB Authentication] to 'On' in [SMB Auth. Settings] in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
For information on the SMB server settings, see "SMB and WINS Settings."
To allow external users to write in the Advanced Space, set [Prohibit Writing from External] to 'Off' in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Prohibiting Writing from External Users.")
For WebDAV:
Set [Open to Public] to 'By WebDAV' in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting the Advanced Space to Be Opened Externally as a WebDAV/SMB Server.")
Set [Use WebDAV Server] to 'On' in [Preferences] (Settings/Registration). (See "Settings Common to TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6.")
If the Advanced Space is open to the public by setting [Authentication Management] to 'On' in [Advanced Space Settings] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration), set the authentication type (Basic) in [WebDAV Server Settings] in [Advanced Space Settings] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting the Advanced Space to Be Opened Externally as a WebDAV/SMB Server.")
To allow external users to write in the Advanced Space, set [Prohibit Writing from External] to 'Off' in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Prohibiting Writing from External Users.")
NOTE
If the ColorPASS or the imagePASS is attached, you cannot open the Advanced Space to the public using SMB. To open the Advanced Space to the public, set WebDAV.
If the machine shuts down when a client computer is writing a file to the Advanced Space, an incomplete file is generated inside the Advanced Space. In this case, perform the operation again after restarting the machine.

Using the Advanced Space of Another Machine

Configure the network as follows to enable this machine to use the Advanced Space (network storage) of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine. The Advanced Space must be opened externally using SMB or WebDAV.
Settings on this machine:
Register the Advanced Space of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine that is opened externally in [Network Place Settings] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting/Managing the Advanced Space of an External Reference (Network Place).")
Set the same communication protocol used to open the Advanced Space of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine externally in [Protocol for External Reference] in [Function Settings] (Settings/Registration). (See "Setting the Protocol for External Reference.")
If the ColorPASS or the imagePASS is attached to the machine for external reference, set WebDAV as the protocol.
The URLs to register are as follows:
If the SSL is invalid:
http://IP address:18080/share
If the SSL is valid:
https://IP address:18443/share
Settings on the other imageRUNNER ADVANCE series machine:
If the external Advanced Space is open with authentication management set to 'On', register the users in "User Access Control for Advanced Space." (See "Registering User Information.")

Operating Systems Compatible as the Client of the SMB or WebDAV Server:

Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7
IMPORTANT
To connect to the Advanced Space that is opened externally as the WebDAV server from a computer, depending on the operating system/software environment you are using, it is necessary to install the following update programme.
For Windows XP or Windows Vista
Update Software Program for Web Folder: KB907306
For Office XP
Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP-1)
For 2007 Office system
2007 Microsoft Office system Service Pack 1 (SP-1)
For more information, see the Microsoft Web page.
