Internet Fax/Intranet Fax

What Is Internet Fax/Intranet Fax?

Internet Fax (I-fax) is a function that enables you to send and receive images via the Internet, as opposed to a telephone line.
The setup and method are the same as for e-mail. You can send image data as an attachment to an e-mail.
The sender scans an original and specifies a destination in the same way as a G3 FAX, and the receiver prints out the I-fax after receiving it from the POP server.
Using Intranet Fax you can send and receive I-fax between compatible imageRUNNER ADVANCE machines using office LAN with TCP/IP protocol. Data is transmitted directly with IP transmission, without the need for a mail server.
I-Fax System
NOTE
Standards for I-fax are defined by ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector). You can send and receive with other manufacturer's machines as long as that machine is ITU-T compliant. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE is compliant with Recommendation T.37 (Procedures for the transfer of facsimile data via store-and-forward on the Internet).
Benefits of Using Internet Fax
Reduce transmission costs
G3 FAX transmission costs increase with transmission time and distance. If a line with fixed rate is installed, you can control the transmission cost because the cost of I-fax is fixed regardless of the transmission time and distance. It is recommended that you use this when sending and receiving large volume documents.
High resolution transmission
You can send and receive at a resolution of up to 600 dpi (for Full Mode).
Confirm transmission
The sender can be notified as to whether the document was received by the recipient.
Colour transmission
You can send and receive colour documents. Also, you can send and receive with another manufacturer's machine as long as that machine is ITU-T compliant.
Intranet-Fax System
NOTE
Intranet Fax is a function unique to Canon machines.
Data transmission not using a mail server, referred to as IP Fax and compliant with ITU-T Recommendation T.38 (Procedures for real-time Group 3 facsimile communication over IP networks), is available on some other machines. However, these machines cannot perform Intranet Fax with Canon machines.
Benefits of Using Intranet Fax
Speedy
When sending e-mail or I-fax via a server, the data is not usually received instantaneously. This means that even if sending is completed, the data may remain in the server and may not have been received.
Intranet Fax transmits data between machines without using a server, meaning that the instant sending is completed, the data is received.
NOTE
Image data is converted to TIFF (with colour) files for sending and receiving.
