When an Error Message Appears
If you cannot send a fax or the memory is full, or you encounter operation problems, a message appears on the display. Find out more information about messages in the following list.
A malfunction may occur. A non-Canon toner cartridge or a toner cartridge of the wrong color may be inserted. To use this cartridge, press [I Agree].
A toner cartridge is faulty.
Replace the toner cartridge.
If you select <I Agree>, you can continue making mode, scan, and other settings without immediately replacing the toner cartridge.
A non-Canon toner cartridge may be inserted.
Replacement with a toner cartridge for the machine is recommended.
A toner cartridge of the wrong color is inserted.
Make sure a toner cartridge of the right color is inserted.
Black & White copying is restricted. Select another color mode.
Black and white copying is disabled by Department ID Management.

To copy in black and white, select <Cancel> and log on with a Department ID for which black and white copying is not disabled. For the Department ID and PIN, contact your Administrator.
Black & White printing is restricted. Do you want to print in Color?

Tap <Yes> and log on with a Department ID for which black and white printing is not disabled. For the Department ID and PIN, contact your Administrator.
Black Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)
The toner level of the displayed color is low.
Prepare a new toner cartridge for the displayed color.
Cannot change the destination type of destinations registered to a group.
A selected destination could not be edited because it was registered to Group Dial.
To change the type of destinations that is registered to Group Dial, first clear the registered destinations from Group Dial. Next, change the destination type, then register the dest. to Group Dial again.
Cannot print RX data.
A received document cannot be printed due to the following:
The cover is open.
No paper is loaded.
Paper or originals are jammed.
The toner has run out.
An error occurred.
Check if it corresponds to any of the above. Check the cause and remedy if displayed.
Cannot receive the fax. Make sure the fax was sent correctly by the sender.
The recipient's machine did not respond within 35 seconds.
Ask the sender to send the fax again. When you hear the beep, tap <Start Receiving> to receive the fax.
Cannot send because more than one destination is specified.
Sending faxes to multiple destinations is restricted.
To specify multiple dest., you must set <Restrict Sequential Broadcast> to <Off> or <Confirm Sequential Broadcast>. For more information, contact your administrator.
Cannot specify a group.
Group Dial was specified as a destination after tapping <Hook>.
Once you tap <Hook>, you cannot specify a Group Dial. Tap <End> on the <Specify the destination.> screen, and specify destinations in Group Dial again.
Cannot use Google Cloud Print. Server authentication failed.
Cloud Print could not perform server authentication, or could not acquire information for registration.
Cannot use Google Cloud Print. Server communication error.
Cloud Print is unavailable due to an error.
A port that is used for Cloud Print may be blocked by a firewall or other protection. Check whether the 5222 port is available with your computer.
If a proxy server is used on the network, check whether the proxy settings on the machine and the server are correct. For details, contact your Network Administrator.
Cannot use these settings. Sending to the specified destination is restricted.
The logged in user is restricted from sending to the destination registered to the selected <Favorite Settings>.
Change the sending restrictions for the logged in user.
Cleaning failed.
Paper jammed during cleaning.
Remove the jammed paper and load paper correctly.
The amount of toner required for cleaning the fixing assembly is insufficient.
A substantial amount of toner is needed for cleaning. Replace the toner cartridge and clean again.

Color copying is disabled in the Department ID Management.

Communication failed.
The cable is not connected to the machine correctly.
Check that the machine is connected to the network using the correct cable, then turn the power OFF and ON.
The network settings are incorrect.
Check the network settings.
Correction failed.
Appropriate paper that is required for correction is not loaded in a paper drawer.
Load appropriate paper in the paper drawer.
An adjustment image that is required for correction is not placed on the platen glass correctly.
Place the image for adjustment on the platen glass with the print side face down and black stripe toward the back.
Paper jammed during correction.
Remove the jammed paper, then perform correction.
Cannot print because the waste toner container is full.
Replace the waste toner container.
Could not send the service call request.
The cable is not connected to the machine correctly.
Check that the machine is connected to the network using the correct cable, then turn the power OFF and ON.

Paper is not loaded in the paper drawer or multi-purpose tray.
Load paper.
Paper on which reports and lists can be printed is not loaded.
Reports or lists can be printed on A4 or LTR size paper. Load A4 or LTR size paper and set its size. Also, set the paper type to <Plain 1>, <Plain 2>, <Plain 3>, <Recycled 1>, <Recycled 2>, <Recycled 3>, <Color>, or <Thin> depending on the loaded paper.
Paper on which received documents can be printed is not loaded.
Received documents can be printed on A4 or LTR size paper. Load A4 or LTR size paper and set its size. Also, set the paper type to <Plain 1>, <Plain 2>, <Plain 3>, <Recycled 1>, <Recycled 2>, <Recycled 3>, <Color>, or <Thin> depending on the loaded paper.
If you print on paper other than A4 or LTR size, some portions of the image may be missing or the image may be divided and printed onto several sheets.
No response from the host.
The machine is not connected to the network correctly.
Check the machine and network settings, then connect again.
Paper jammed.
Paper jams.
Remove the jammed paper or original, then print again. (Printing may resume automatically.)
Paper Size & Settings Mismatch
The paper size setting on the operation panel does not match the loaded paper size.
Match the paper size setting specified in <Paper Settings> and the size of the paper that is actually loaded.
To use the loaded paper, change <Paper Settings> to match the loaded paper size.
If printing from a computer, check whether the paper size setting in the printer driver matches the loaded paper size.
To load paper without changing the settings, load paper of the size set in <Paper Settings>.
Check that the drawer paper guide is set to the correct position.
Remaining toner information cannot be detected properly. A non-Canon cart. or a cart. with the wrong item number may be inserted. To use this cartridge, press [I Agree].
A toner cartridge is faulty.

If a send/print job is queued, wait until complete.
If a document is stored to memory, print or delete it.
To send a document with many pages, divide it into sets.
If sending a fax, reduce resolution to scan document.
If scanning, change file format to reduce file size.
A document could not be stored to a USB memory device due to insufficient memory space.
Delete unnecessary data to free space in the USB memory device, or connect a different USB memory device.
The memory is full. Enter the original type settings again.
Cannot scan the original because the memory became full during copying.
Set <Original Type> to <Text/Photo/Map>, then copy.
