Specifying Computer Settings

Connecting to a TCP/IP Network:
To print or send faxes from a computer, the computer must have TCP/IP client software installed and be capable of connecting to a TCP/IP network. For details, see the operating system manual.
Installing the printer driver and specifying the connection destination:
To print documents from a computer, you need to install the printer driver and specify the connection destination. The machine destination setting differs depending on the print protocol. Use the following information as a guide to determine the print protocol to be used, and then perform the necessary operations.
LPD
This is the protocol generally used with TCP/IP.
RAW
This is a print protocol used with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/Server 2003/Server 2008/Server 2012. It can print at higher speeds than LPD.

Open the [Devices and Printers] folder.

Right-click the icon for the machine and select [Printer properties] (or [Properties]).

Click the [Ports] tab.

Click [Configure Port].

Specify the settings for LPR or RAW protocols.

Select [LPR] or [RAW] under [Protocol Type].

When changing the port number of the machine, change [Port Number].

Click [OK].

Click [Close].
