Set the receive mode to one of the followings:
<Fax/Tel Auto Switch>
<Auto>
<Answering Machine>
"RX Mode"
If you set the receive mode to <Answering Machine>, ensure that an external telephone with a built-in answering machine is connected to the machine, that it is turned ON, and that with an answering message has been recorded.

Print, send, or delete jobs stored in memory.

Make sure the machine is set to receive faxes manually.

Select <Start Receiving> and press [OK]. Then, return the handset to its cradle or enter the remote receive ID. Otherwise, the call will be disconnected.

Remove the document from the feeder and receive the fax manually.
If [] (Start) is pressed when a document is loaded in the feeder, the document will be sent.

Use of the optical line is not guaranteed.

Adjust the paper guides of the paper cassette to fit the paper size.

Specify the correct paper size to load into the paper cassette.
|
Set <Reduce RX Size> to <On> before adjustment.

Contact the sender and verify that the resolution of the sender's machine has been set properly.

Make sure to set the telephone line type to tone dialing. If the type is set to the rotary pulse, press [] (Tone) to switch to tone dialing.

Follow the instructions provided from information services.
|
Ask the sender to check that his or her machine is functioning properly.
|
Check the settings specified for 2-sided printing.
|
If the external telephone does not ring when the fax receive mode is set to <Fax/Tel Auto Switch>, set <Public Line Connection> settings to <Adapter 1> or <Adapter 2>.
