SMS (Service Management Service)

SMS (Service Management Service) is used to manage MEAP applications. This section describes the error messages related to SMS.

Error Messages Related to SMS

Login Page

Cannot display Service Management Service because SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) has been stopped. Enable 'Use User Authentication Function' on the remote UI [Authentication Management] page.
Cannot display Service Management Service because SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) has been stopped. Switch to a login service other than Department ID Authentication.

Cause 1
The specified file is not a license switch file.
Remedy
Check that the specified file is a license switch file for initializing the password.
Cause 2
There is insufficient information for the specified file.
Remedy
The password cannot be initialized using the specified file. Confirm the contents of the file.
Cannot display Service Management Service because SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) has been stopped. Enable 'Use User Authentication Function' on the remote UI [Authentication Management] page.
Cause
Service Management Service cannot be displayed if all the following conditions are met.
User Authentication is set as the login service
[Use User Authentication Function:] is set to [Do not use] in the login user settings
SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) is stopped
Remedy
Set [Use User Authentication Function:] to [Use] in the login user settings. (See "Using the Remote UI.")
Cannot display Service Management Service because SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) has been stopped. Switch to a login service other than Department ID Authentication.
Cause
Service Management Service cannot not be displayed if SMS Installer Service (Password Authentication) is stopped when DepartmentID Authentication is set as the login service.
Remedy
Switch the login service to something other than DepartmentID Authentication. When switching the login service from DepartmentID Authentication (Department ID Management) to User Authentication, set [Department ID Management] to 'Off' before switching the login service. For information on setting Department ID Management, see "Specifying Department ID Management."

MEAP Application Management Page

Cause
The application cannot be started because system resources required to start the application are unable to be reserved.
Remedy
Stop another application, and then restart this application. It may be able to start this time.

Cause
In the license file, there is serial number information of machines in which the license file can be installed. The application you have specified cannot be installed, because your machine's serial number is not found in the serial number information in this license file.
Remedy
Specify a license file whose serial number information includes the serial number of your machine.
<The specified application does not support this device.>
Cause
The application can only be installed in certain machine models. It cannot be installed in this machine.
Remedy
Specify an application which supports the machine.

Cause
The installation could not be performed because the specified application is not an Enhanced System Application.
Remedy
Specify an application file for an Enhanced System Application.
Cannot install '<Application Name>'.Setting information for the application may be incorrect or missing.
Cause
The appropriate privileges are not set for the application.
Remedy
Set the appropriate privileges for the application.
Cannot update this application because the related application information has been changed.- Related Application Information: <Bundle-SymbolicName>
Cause
The settings of the related application and the application scheduled to be updated do not match.
Remedy
Check the settings of the related application and the application scheduled to be updated.

Authentication Information Setting Page

The messages may differ, depending on the selected login service.
