Descriptions of Settings

[Profile]
Selecting a profile applies the registered settings. This is useful for saving frequently used settings.
Printing With Profiles
[Add]
Enables you to register the current settings as a profile. You can set the name etc. in the [Add Profile] Dialog Box.
Adding Profiles
[Edit]
Enables you to edit, import, and export profiles in the [Edit Profile] Dialog Box.
Editing the Profile List
[Output Method]
Enables you to select the method for outputting print data.
[Print]
Performs normal printing.
[Hold]
Saves print data temporarily in a hold queue in the printer. This function is useful when you want to perform proof printing. You can set a data name in the [Hold Details] Dialog Box by clicking [Details].
Suspending Printing
[Secured Print]
Attaches a PIN (password) to the print data and stores it in the printer. This function is useful when printing confidential documents etc. You can set the user name and PIN or password by clicking [Details].
Secured Printing
[Store]
Stores the print data in a box in the printer. You can set the storage destination by clicking [Details] ([Store Details] Dialog Box).
Saving Print Data
[Promote Print]
Prints the print job before other print jobs after the current print job is finished.
[Edit and Preview]
Combines multiple files into one when printing. You can also view a print preview and change the print settings. Clicking [Details] enables you to set the output method after Edit and Preview. If you select [Lock], [Output Method] is locked in [Edit and Preview] mode. This function is useful for restricting the output methods of clients in a shared printer environment.
Combining Multiple Files
[Lock] can only be set when the printer driver screen is displayed from the Start menu (see Changing the Default Settings).
[Print Style]
Enables you to switch between 1-sided and 2-sided printing. Depending on the printer model you are using, you may also be able to select booklet printing and perfect binding.
The default setting for [Print Style] for some printers that support 2-sided printing is [2-sided Printing]. For details about switching between 2-sided printing and 1-sided printing, see 1-sided and 2-sided Printing.
1-sided and 2-sided Printing
Booklet Printing
Perfect Binding

When you select [1-sided Printing] or [2-sided Printing] for [Print Style]:

[Print with Mixed Paper Sizes/Orientations]/[Print in Different Orientations]
Select this setting when printing data in which the page size and orientation settings differ from page to page. Click [Details] ([Detailed Settings] Dialog Box ([Finishing] Tab)) to set the binding locations and widths.
[Binding Location]
Enables you to select which edge of the paper to bind. Click [Gutter] to set the gutter width.
If you change [Orientation] in the [Basic Settings]/[Page Setup] tab, [Binding Location] is changed to the left or top. The long edge/short edge positional relationship is maintained.
[Finishing]
When printing multiple copies, enables you to set the order of pages and whether to staple the pages.
[Off]
Follows the application setting.
[Collate]
Outputs the specified number of copies in page order.
[Group]
Outputs the specified number of copies with all pages having the same page number grouped together.
[Staple + Collate], [Staple & Collate], [Staple + Group], [Staple & Group], [Eco (Staple-Free) + Collate], [Eco (Staple-Free) + Group]
Outputs the pages in the order specified for [Collate] or [Group] stapled together. "Eco (Staple-Free)" is a method of fixing pages together without using staples, and can be used when a finisher that supports binding without staples is installed. Clicking [Staple Position] enables you to set the position of the staple(s).
Setting the Finishing Method
Normal stapling and staple-free binding cannot be used together.
If you change [Orientation] in the [Basic Settings]/[Page Setup] tab, the staple position reverts to the default position. This is the upper left for single stapling and the left or top for double stapling.
If the staple position specified in [Staple Position] in the driver and [Binding Location] specified in the application do not match, the staple position is changed to the upper left.
[Offset]
Outputs each copy of the document so that it is offset relative to the copy before and after it. This function is useful for separating each copy. You can set how many copies are offset in [Number of Copies for Offset].

Required condition: Select [Basic Settings] or [Finishing] tab → [Finishing] → [Collate]/[Group]/[Staple + Collate]/[Eco (Staple-Free) + Collate]/[Staple & Collate]/[Staple + Group]/[Eco (Staple-Free) + Group]/[Staple & Group]
Supported paper sizes: A3, B4, A4, B5, Letter, 11x17, and Legal
[Rotate]
Output each copy of the document at a 90 degree angle relative to the copy before and after it. This function is useful for separating each copy.
This setting is not available when an optional finisher is attached.
Required condition:
Select [Basic Settings] or [Finishing] tab → [Finishing] → [Collate] or [Group]
Select [Paper Source] tab → [Paper Source] → [Auto]
Supported paper sizes: A4, B5, and Letter.
[Hole Punch]
Outputs the document with multiple holes for ring binding.
Required options: Finisher, puncher unit.
Supported sizes:
When binding location is short edge: A3, B4, A4, B5, Letter, 11x17, and Legal
When binding location is long edge: A4, B5, and Letter
[Fold]
Folds pages when outputting them. Clicking [Fold Details] enables you to specify the fold direction (when you select [C-fold], [Half Fold], [Accordion Z-fold], [Double Parallel Fold], and [Saddle Fold]).

When you select [Booklet Printing] for [Print Style]:

[Booklet]
In the [Detailed Settings for Booklet] Dialog Box, you can configure detailed settings such as gutter, displacement correction, etc.
Booklet Printing
[Saddle Stitch Settings]
Prints a booklet folded in half and saddle stitched (stapled in the middle). Trimming cuts the edges of the pages so that they are all in alignment.
Required options: Saddle finisher
[Adjust Trim Width by]/[Trim Settings]
These settings are available when you set [Fold + Saddle Stitch + Trim] or [Fold + Trim] for [Saddle Stitch Settings].
[Device Settings]/[Trim by Device Settings]
Follows the printer setting.
[Manual Settings]/[Trim Fore]/[Specify Trim Width of Fore]
Trims the opening edges only. You can specify a desired trimming width.
[Trim Fore and Top/Bottom]/[Specify Trim Width of Fore and Top/Bottom]
Trims the opening, top, and bottom edges. You can specify a desired trimming width.
[Specify Finishing Width]
Enables you to specify only the width of the finishing size when trimming.
[Specify Finishing Width and Height]
Enables you to specify the width and height of the finishing size when trimming.
Required options:
Fore trimming (Specify finishing width): Saddle finisher and trimmer
3-direction trimming (Specify finishing width and height): Saddle finisher, trimmer, and two-knife booklet trimmer
The same value is applied for both top and bottom trimming widths (if you specify 3.0 mm (0.11 inches), both the top edge and bottom edge of each page are trimmed by 3.0 mm (0.11 inches)).
If the finished size after trimming is 190.0 mm (7.48 inches) or less, the top and bottom trim settings may not be correctly applied.
The width and height settings and setting range of the finishing size vary according to the output paper size.
[Finishing Width] and [Trim Width of Fore], and [Finishing Height] and [Trim Width of Top/Bottom] are linked. Although you can enter values in increments of 0.1 mm or less for [Trim Width of Fore] and [Trim Width of Top/Bottom], when you press the [OK]/[Apply] button units of 0.1 mm or less are truncated. For [Finishing Width] and [Finishing Height], values recalculated from truncated settings are set.
[Offset]
Outputs each copy of the document so that it is offset relative to the copy before and after it. This function is useful for separating each copy. You can set how many copies are offset in [Number of Copies for Offset].

Required condition: Select [Basic Settings] tab → [1-sided/2-sided/Booklet Printing] → [Booklet Printing] → [Saddle Stitch Settings] → a setting that does not executed trimming,
or [Finishing] tab → [Print Style] → [Booklet Printing] → [Saddle Stitch Settings] → a setting that does not execute trimming
Supported paper sizes: A3, B4, A4, B5, Letter, 11x17, and Legal

When you select [Perfect Binding [2-sided]] or [Perfect Binding [1-sided]] for [Print Style]:

[Setting List]
You can confirm the current settings as a list. Clicking [Perfect Binding Settings] ([Perfect Binding Settings] Dialog Box) enables you to change the settings.
Perfect Binding
[Paper Output]
Enables you to specify which tray the paper will be output to.
Selecting [Auto] automatically switches the paper output to another stacker when the stacker being used is full.
[Stack Details]
If you have set the stack of the stacker for [Paper Output], display the [Stack Details] Dialog Box and configure the detailed settings for the stacker.
Required Conditions:
Select [Device Settings] tab - [Function] - [Function Version] - [2.0 or later]
Select [Device Settings] tab - a high capacity stacker for [Stacker]
Set the stack of the stacker in [Paper Output]
[Advanced Settings]
Enables you to configure detailed settings relating to finishing in the [Advanced Settings] Dialog Box ([Finishing] Tab).
[Restore Defaults]
Returns all the settings to their standard (default) values.
[View Settings]
Enables you to check the current settings in a list.
[Display Printer Status Window]
Click [] to display the Printer Status Window. The Printer Status Window enables you to check the printer status, execute the utility functions, and specify the settings for the printer unit, and so on.
For details on the Printer Status Window, refer to the help displayed from the [Help] menu bar.
