Correct Shading

This mode enables you to correct the slightly uneven densities that occur in the halftone density area of a printed image.
The following two types of Correct Shading can be made:
Densitometer Correction:
This mode enables you to gauge the test page using a densitometer. After gauging the colour patterns on the test page, enter the displayed values for density adjustment.
Visual Correction:
This mode enables you to perform a density adjustment by viewing the output result of the test page and correct density unevenness manually. Select this mode to correct the density if the densitometer correction is unsatisfactory. Note that sufficient experience in detecting slightly uneven densities is required to manually adjust the density.
IMPORTANT
320 mm x 450 mm (SRA3), 305 mm x 457 mm, A3, A4, 12 5/8" x 17 11/16", 12" x 18", 11" x 17", or LTR plain paper can be used for test pages.
Make sure that a sufficient supply of paper is loaded in the paper source before starting this procedure.

1.
Press (Settings/Registration).

To perform densitometer correction:
Press [Densitometer Correction].
Press [Start Printing].
Gauge the mark on the output test page using the densitometer.
Press [Fine Adjust] of the colour you want to adjust.

Press [Output Test Page].
Press [Start Printing].
Test page is output.
View the output test page → press [Fine Adjust] of the colour you want to adjust.

Press [Store & Finish].
The display returns to the screen of step 2. Repeat steps 2 to 7 until the shading is improved.

NOTE
When the cyan patterns are on top, the colour patterns on the test page are laid out in numeric order (1 to 7).
If [Output Test Page] is pressed before pressing [Store & Finish], a test page with colour patterns after adjustment is output.
When the cyan patterns are on top, the colour patterns on the test page are laid out in numeric order (-6 to 6). The patterns under -6 and 6 may not be shown, depending on the paper width. In this case, the numbers are from -5 to 5.
If [Output Test Page] is pressed before pressing [Store & Finish], a test page with colour patterns after adjustment is output.
