Migration Preparations

To use a user settings file to migrate a Desktop environment, it is necessary to make the target environment the same as the source environment.
Migrating My Library
Items that Cannot Be Migrated
Items Not Migrated when the User Name Differs in the Source Environment and Target Environment
Drivers
Install the printer, fax, and scanner, etc. drivers used in the source environment in the target environment. When installing a fax driver, also register the address book.
NOTE
Make sure that the names of printers, fax machines, and scanners are the same in the target environment and source environment.
Fonts
Install the same fonts as the source environment.
Locations of Shared Folders and Image/Sound Files, Etc.
The Import & Export Tool migrates the settings for shared folders and image/sound files, etc. Even when migrating to an environment that uses a different operating system, settings can be migrated to the "My Documents" folder (Windows 7/Windows 8.1) and "Document" folder (Windows 10) created by Windows.
NOTE
It is recommended that you set a path that does not depend on the environment for shared folders.
Files are not moved in the following cases. In these cases, manually move the files and register them using Desktop again.
When a file is saved in a location that cannot be accessed
When the file path is too long
Local Folders
Since folders and files are not moved, local libraries and hot folders used in the source environment should be backed up.
Libraries
Cancel the registered libraries from Desktop in the source environment.
Back up the folders that were used as libraries, and after migrating the settings, copy them to the destination computer and register them as libraries again.
Hot Folder
Back up each Hot Folder that was set locally (source folders/target folders), and after migrating the settings, copy them to the destination computer.
NOTE
Files under the "My Documents" folder (Windows 7/Windows 8.1) and "Document" folder (Windows 10) created by Windows in the source environment should be placed under the corresponding folder created by Windows in the target environment.
Returning and Transferring Licenses
Return or transfer the Desktop license before migration.
NOTE
For information on license management operations, see "Software License Registration Guide".

Migrating My Library

"My Library" is the Personal Library that is created when you start Desktop Browser for the first time. Data included in the My Library folder is not migrated, but the folder itself remains on Windows. To migrate the data, copy the data from the source environment to the library in the target environment.
NOTE
The My Library data is created immediately below the "My Documents" folder (Windows 7/Windows 8.1) or "Document" folder (Windows 10).
If you were using a Document Destination Folder, the settings may need to be updated.

Items that Cannot Be Migrated

The following user settings are not migrated, regardless of the migration method.
Library authentication information (including cache)
Input history such as addresses and search keywords
Files in the check out folder (files being checked out)
Personal Button
Address Book
License information
Setting information for hot folders and transfer destinations
IMPORTANT
If the above items were already set in the target computer, the default values are restored when you execute the migration. Set/register them again as required.

Items Not Migrated when the User Name Differs in the Source Environment and Target Environment

If you import user settings to a Desktop environment with a different user name to the source environment, the following items cannot be migrated.
Documents in My Tray
The status of the file list in folders monitored by Document Monitor/Printer Monitor, print logs, fax transmission logs, and received fax logs
IMPORTANT
The following information that was registered in Desktop in the target environment is returned to its default values when the import process is executed. Configure or register these settings again, as necessary.
Libraries, Hot Folders, and personal buttons, etc. set with a local path in the source environment
Items that only exist in Desktop in the target environment (when migrating from a previous version)
