Copying the Installer from "Desktop Installation Media" Copying the Installer

The Desktop installer can be started from the following locations in addition to "Desktop Installation Media".

Local disk drive	A local disk drive of the computer to install Desktop to.
Network disk drive	A disk drive on a network on the same LAN as the computer to install Desktop to.
Removable drive	A removable drive connected to the computer to install Desktop to.

However, there is a limit to the length of the absolute path to the folder where the installer is started.

When installing	170 single-byte characters or less
When uninstalling	200 single-byte characters or less

IMPORTANT
If the installer is started from a network disk drive that requires user authentication and the local computer requires a restart during installation, the latest version of Desktop may not be installed correctly. In this case, start the installer again to update to the latest version.

NOTE
When the above limit is exceeded or the path to the installer configuration file has a length that cannot be recognized by Windows, an error occurs and a message is displayed. List of Messages If a surrogate pair character is included in the folder path, an error message is displayed as indicated above. The installer is not guaranteed to operate in this case. The installer may not operate correctly when started from somewhere other than a local disk drive, depending on your environment. If so, start the installer from a local disk drive.

NOTE

When the above limit is exceeded or the path to the installer configuration file has a length that cannot be recognized by Windows, an error occurs and a message is displayed.

List of Messages

If a surrogate pair character is included in the folder path, an error message is displayed as indicated above. The installer is not guaranteed to operate in this case.

The installer may not operate correctly when started from somewhere other than a local disk drive, depending on your environment. If so, start the installer from a local disk drive.

When copying the installer from "Desktop Installation Media", create a folder on a local disk drive, etc., while considering the above restrictions, and copy the entire content of "Desktop Installation Media".

NOTE
If you know the operating system environment to install to in advance, the installer will operate normally even if you distribute only the "32bit" folder or "64bit" folder.
