[Device Settings] Tab (Settings)

How to display the [Device Settings] tab:
Click [

] (Start) → [Devices and Printers].
The above is for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.
For Windows 10: Click [Settings] → [Devices] → [Printers & scanners] → [Related settings] → [Devices and printers].
For Windows 8/8.1/Server 2012/Server 2012 R2: From the desktop, display the charm bar to the right of the screen, and click or tap [

Settings] → [Control Panel] → [Devices and Printers].
For Windows Vista and Server 2008: Click [

] (Start) → [Control Panel] → [Printers].
For Windows Server 2003/Server 2003 R2: Click [Start] → [Printers and Faxes] (or [Start] → [Control Panel] → [Printers and Other Hardware] → [Printers and Faxes]).
Right-click the icon of the printer you are using → click [Printer properties] (or [Properties]).
Click the [Device Settings] tab.
Descriptions of Settings
[Device Type]
Specifies the device type, such as [Black & White [A3]], [Color [A3]], [Black & White [A4]] or [Color [A4]]. The available paper sizes differ for A3 and A4 devices, and the settings for [Color Mode] and the [Advanced Settings] dialog box differ for color and black and white devices.
[Number of Drawers]
Enables you to set the number of paper drawers installed in the printer.
[Paper Deck]
Enables you to specify whether the side paper deck is attached to the printer.
[2-sided Printing]
Enables you to specify whether the printer is capable of duplex printing.
[Staple]
Enables you to specify whether the printer is capable of stapling.
[Saddle Stitch]
Enables you to specify whether the printer is capable of saddle stitching. This setting is only enabled when [2-sided Printing] and [Staple] are selected in the [Device Settings] tab.
[Eco (Staple-Free)]
If you want to bind the pages without staples, install an option that supports [Eco (Staple-Free)] and select this check box.
[Offset]
Select this setting to enable you to use the offset function.
[Hole Punch]
Select this setting to enable you to use the hole punching function.
[Booklet Printing [By Device]]
Select this check box to enable reduced size layout ([N on 1]) together with booklet printing.
[Store in Mail Box]
Enables you to specify whether the printer is capable of storing documents.
[Storage Options]
Select this option if you want to perform the collating process at the printer.
[Secured Print]
Select this setting when you want to enable secured printing.
[Spooling at Host]
Enables you to select whether processing of the print data is performed at the host (computer) or at the printer with processing at the host disabled. If you click [Auto], processing is performed at the printer when processing is possible using only the printer functions, increasing the print speed.

When you select [Disabled], you may not be able to set the following functions.
[Basic Settings] or [Page Setup] tab → [Page Layout] → [N on 1] (other than 1, 2, and 4 on 1)
[Page Setup] tab → [Watermark]
[Page Setup] tab → [Page Options] → [Layout Options]
[Basic Settings] or [Finishing] tab → [Booklet] → [Booklet Printing Process] → [With Driver Settings]
[Paper Source] tab → [Paper Selection]
The output results (appearance) for booklet printing differ when you select [Auto] or [Enabled] and when you select [Disabled].

[Use Department ID Management]
Enables printing management with department IDs. You can configure detailed setting by clicking [Settings] (
[Department ID/PIN Settings] Dialog Box).
[Set User Information]
Enables you to set a user name for print data and a PIN for secured printing. You can configure detailed setting by clicking [Settings] (
[User Information Settings] Dialog Box).
[Specify Mail Box Number When Storing]
Select this option if you want to specify a data name and destination when saving print data.
[Secured Print Authentication]
Sets the secure print authentication mode.
Set the mode to match the authentication method set at the printer.
[Department ID Management Authentication]
Sets the department ID management authentication mode.
Set the mode to match the authentication method set at the printer.
[Details]
In the
[Detailed Settings] Dialog Box ([Device Settings] Tab), you can configure detailed driver settings such as custom paper details, job names for print data, etc.
[Get Device Status]
Acquires printer information and applies it to the settings.
The following items must be set manually.
[Device Type] ([Black & White [A3]], [Color [A3]], [Black & White [A4]], [Color [A4]])
[Hole Punch]
[About]
Displays information about the printer driver version.
