Preparing Document Server and the Computer

To link Desktop with Document Server, it is necessary to configure the settings of the computer on which Desktop is installed and the Document Server to be linked.

IMPORTANT
Operations are guaranteed with Document Server V1.1.0 or later, but it is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version.

Setting the Users to Allow Access (Document Server)

To access Document Server from Desktop, it is necessary to register beforehand the users whose access is allowed (access permitted users). When accessing to Document Server library, use information of the registered users.
If you set an e-mail address for the access permitted users registered, notification of document update information, etc.
You can specify user permissions to users or groups within a Document Server Library or a Document Server Library that is managed by Document Server. The settings of user permissions are configured in Document Server. Document Server can assign the following permissions to users/groups.
[Full Control]
All permissions required for administration (permissions for administrators)
[Edit]
Permissions required for displaying and editing (adding, changing, deleting) documents and folders
[Update]
Permissions to display and modify documents and folders
[View]
Permissions to display documents and folders
For information on registering access permitted users or specifying user permission, see "iW Document Server Administrator's Guide".
NOTE
By default, the first time a user with access privileges accesses Document Server, the user is automatically registered as access permitted user as long as the number of CAL licenses is not exceeded. Therefore, it is not necessary to register access permitted users.
In [Access Permitted User Management.] of the System Management screen of Document Server, you can view the number of access permitted users registered and the number of CAL licenses, and also check whether automatic registration of access permitted users is enabled. If [Permitted User Auto Registration] is set to [Automatically register accessed users who are not permitted users as permitted users], automatic registration of access permitted users is enabled.
The documents and folders for which you do not have the view permission are not displayed in the Navigation Window of Desktop Browser and the File List View Window.
As for the documents and folders for which you do not have the update or edit permission, when you try to perform operations beyond your permissions, a warning message is displayed. If you do not know your permission status, consult the site administrator of Document Server.

Preparing access information file (Document Server)

By preparing an access information file for the library, you can easily register of Document Server library. Access information file must be created by a site manager of Document Server. The following is an example of registration procedure.
1.
Access to the site management screen of Document Server.
NOTE
For information on accessing to the site management screen, see "iW Document Server Administrator's Guide".
2.
On the tree view of the site management screen, click [Specify from Tree View] > [(team site name to use)].
[Management of (selected team site name)] will be displayed.
3.
Click [Library Management].
The [Library Management] is displayed.
4.
From [Library List], select a library for which an access information file is to be created, and click [Create Access Information File].
The [File Download] is displayed.
5.
Click [Save].
The [Save As] is displayed.
6.
Specify the save destination and file name and then click [Save].

Preparing Computer

To link Desktop as a client with Document Server, Desktop must be installed in a computer on the same network as Document Server.
Make sure that the computer you are using is properly connected to the network.

Configuring Exceptions for Proxy Settings

When an LAN Proxy server is configured in the HTTP, the connection from Desktop to Document Server cannot be established. In this case, follow the steps below to specify exceptions for proxy settings of a local computer on which Desktop is running. This section describes how to configure the settings in Internet Explorer 11.0.
1.
Start Internet Explorer > select the [Tools] menu > [Internet Options].
The [Internet Options] is displayed.
2.
Select the [Connections] tab.
3.
Click [LAN Settings] in [Local Area Network (LAN) Settings].
The [Local Area Network (LAN) Settings] is displayed.
4.
Click [Advanced] in [Proxy server].
[Proxy Settings] is displayed.
5.
Enter the URL of the computer in which Document Server is installed in [Exceptions], and click [OK].
6.
Click [OK] to close all the screens, and exit Internet Explorer.
