About the Device Information Retrieval Function
Setting device information in the driver enables unique device printing functions to be used. The device information retrieval function enables the following device information to be automatically set.
Option configuration, including paper drawers, finishers, and duplex units, etc.
Type and size of paper loaded in paper sources
Color adjustment via calibration
Authentication information for the department ID management function
The device information retrieval function can be used when the device is connected to a network and the driver is installed using the installer. Normally, device information is automatically set during installation.
When using a local connection or when the printer is shared, the device information retrieval function can be used by installing Canon Driver Information Assist Service with the installer.
