Results are not displayed by host name when discovering devices

When selecting a scanner by discovering devices (*) on the network, the devices may not be displayed by host name.
In this case, the following causes may be responsible. Follow the information in "Remedy" to solve the problem.
* The procedure for discovering devices is indicated below.
(1) In the Color Network ScanGear 2 Tool, click [Select Scanner] → select [Search for Scanners on the Network] in the displayed dialog box.
(2) Select [Address Displayed in Search Result] > [IP Address or Host Name] → click [Search].

Cause

There is a problem with the status of the DNS server or the DNS settings are incorrect.
Remedy
Confirm the following.
Is the DNS server address set in the network settings of your computer?
Is an incorrect DNS server address set in the network settings of your computer?
Is the DNS server operating?
Is the device to use registered in the reverse lookup zone of the DNS server?
For the DNS settings, check with your network administrator.
