[Imaging] Settings

Settings on this menu specify how to print TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) and JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) images that are sent directly to the machine using the Remote UI or command prompt.

NOTE
The paper size used is determined by the paper size specified in the Settings Menu.

[Auto]*, [Vertical], [Horizontal]

[Auto]

Orientation is automatically adjusted by comparing length and width of the image. If the width is greater, the image is printed horizontally. If the length is greater, the image is printed vertically.

[Vertical]

The image is printed vertically regardless of its dimensions.

[Horizontal]

The image is printed horizontally regardless of its dimensions.

[Zoom Mode]

[Off]*, [Auto]

This setting enlarges or reduces the size of an image to match the printable area of the paper size specified.

[Auto]

The size of the image is automatically enlarged or reduced to match the printable area of the specified paper size. If the size of the image is larger than the printable area, it is automatically reduced. If the size of the image is smaller than the printable area, it is automatically enlarged.

NOTE
If there is blank space in the top, bottom, left, and right edges when using this setting, use the Print Position setting in combination with this setting to adjust the print position.
This setting uses the same ratio for both the length and width to enlarge or reduce the size of the image.
Even if you select [Off], the image size is automatically reduced if it is larger than the printable area of the specified paper size.

[Print Position]

[Auto]*, [Center], [Top Left]

This setting specifies the print position for the image.

[Auto]

The image is printed in the specified position of the paper if the print position for the image is specified. If the print position is not specified, the image is printed in the center of the paper.

[Center]

The image is printed in the center of the paper regardless of whether the print position of the image is specified.

[Top Left]

The image is printed in the top left of the paper regardless of whether the print position of the image is specified.

NOTE
As the JPEG file format does not contain print position information, JPEG images are printed in the center of the paper even if you select [Auto].

[Show Warnings]

[On]*, [Off]

[On]

An error message is displayed.

[Off]

An error message is not displayed.

NOTE
Depending on the error, an error message may be displayed even if you select [Off].

[Enlarge Print Area]

[On], [Off]*

This setting specifies whether to enlarge the printable area on the paper.

[On]

The printable area is enlarged to the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the paper.

[Off]

The area 1/4" (5 mm) from the top, bottom, left and right edges of the paper is not printable.

NOTE
If you select [On], images on the edge of the paper may not print properly.

[Halftones]

[Resolution], [Gradation]*, [High Resolution]

This setting specifies how to express halftones.

[Resolution]

A dither pattern that gives priority to the resolution of the images is used. This helps eliminate the appearance of jagged or uneven lines along the edges of objects and is best for printing standard text and graphics.

[Gradation]

A dither pattern that gives priority to the appearance of smooth changes in tone is used. This is best for reproducing images with delicate gradations or changes of tone.

[High Resolution]

Finer printing can be done than with [Resolution], although toner stability is somewhat weaker. This is suited to printing small characters and fine lines, and outlines (such as from CAD data) sharply.

[Halftones] (6800 / 6000 / 4900 / 4800 Series)

[Resolution], [Gradation]*, [Error Diffusion]

This setting specifies how to express halftones.

[Resolution]

A dither pattern that gives priority to the resolution of the images is used. This helps eliminate the appearance of jagged or uneven lines along the edges of objects and is best for printing standard text and graphics.

[Gradation]

A dither pattern that gives priority to the appearance of smooth changes in tone is used. This is best for reproducing images with delicate gradations or changes of tone.

[Error Diffusion]

This mode is suitable for printing data with text and thin lines and the curved lines of CAD data, etc.
NOTE
The stability of the texture and fixed toner may be reduced when this mode is used.

[Grayscale Conversion]

[sRGB], [NTSC]*, [Uniform RGB]

You can select ways to convert color values to a grayscale value when you print color print data.

[sRGB]

Lets you to calculate the grayscale value by the color conversion method based on sRGB.

[NTSC]

Lets you to calculate the grayscale value by the color conversion method based on NTSC.

[Uniform RGB]

Counts the average value of the Red, Green, and Blue values as the grayscale value.

NOTE
This section describes the settings to convert the color data into grayscale data.
This setting is invalid for black-and-white data.
