Replacing the Drum Cartridge
Replace the drum cartridge at the appropriate time according to messages that appear and a change in print quality.
Before replacing the drum cartridge, check the precautions in Important Safety Instructions. Manuals of the Machine

Do not touch the contacts (  ) inside the machine. Doing so may result in a fault. |

Be sure to hold the drum cartridge using the handle.  To avoid scratching the surface of the drum inside the machine or exposing it to light, do not open the drum protective shutter ( ). Do not touch the electrical contacts ( ) or the drum cartridge memory ( ). |
When to Replace the Drum Cartridge
When a Message Appears on the Screen of the Control Panel or Remote UI
Follow the message on the screen to prepare a new drum cartridge and replace the old one. Print quality may suffer if you continue using the drum cartridge without replacing them.

When Print Quality Deteriorates
If printouts show any of the symptoms below, the drum cartridge is near the end of their lifetime. It is recommended to replace the drum cartridge even if a message does not appear.

Replacing Drum Cartridge

Lift the control panel.
If the feeder is not closed completely, you cannot raise the control panel. If you try to raise it by force, the machine may be damaged.

Open the toner cover.

Gently remove the toner cartridge.
Do not shake or tilt the toner cartridge. Also, make sure to avoid applying shocks to the toner cartridge, such as by hitting it against something. Doing so may cause the toner left in the toner cartridge to leak.

Gently remove the drum cartridge.
Do not shake or tilt the drum cartridge. Also, make sure to avoid applying shocks to the drum cartridge, such as by hitting it against something. Doing so may cause the toner left in the drum cartridge to leak.

Remove the drum cartridge from the packing material.

Replace the drum cartridge.
Install the drum cartridge into the slot with the mark which is the same as the one on the drum cartridge.

Insert the toner cartridge.
Install the toner cartridge into the slot with the mark which is the same as the one on the toner cartridge.

Close the toner cover and lower the control panel.
