Importing into Document Binder

You can create a binder document directly from another application.
This is very useful when you are viewing a web page in your browser application or you are viewing received e-mail messages in your e-mail application.
Note
In the operations described in this section, you need to select Desktop Document Writer as the output printer. Make sure that Desktop Document Writer is installed on your computer.
You can also add to a created binder document. For more information on this procedure, see the following.
One of the following must be selected to import to Document Binder:
[Convert to a binder document, and open with Document Binder]
[Select process when importing]
[Settings] > [System Settings] > [Common Settings] > [Import] > [Canon Desktop Document Writer Processing] > [Select Process]
When [Convert to a PDF document, and save a PDF document in the library of iW Desktop] is selected, documents are saved to Desktop Browser instead of being imported to Document Binder.
In addition, refer to the following as necessary.
1.
Start an external application and open a document that you want to convert to a binder document.
2.
Open the [Print] dialog box on the started external application.
3.
In [Printer Name] of the [Print] dialog box, select [Canon Desktop Document Writer].
Note
You can configure the details of the output settings in the [Printing Preferences] dialog box that is displayed by clicking [Advanced] in the [Print] dialog box. For more information on how to configure the settings, see the Help of Desktop Document Writer.
When you configure the resolution of Desktop Document Writer to a low value, the image quality may deteriorate even though the file size is reduced. If there is a problem in the image quality, set the resolution setting higher.
When you import data that contains a large amount of drawing commands in Desktop Document Writer at once, PDF files may not be created correctly. When this happens, divide the data when importing.
4.
Perform the printing.
When [Convert to a binder document, and open with Document Binder] is selected in [System Settings]:
The documents are converted into a binder document and the converted binder document is displayed in the Document Binder screen.
When [Select process when importing] is selected in [System Settings]:
A dialog box for specifying the destination to import to is displayed.
Select [Convert to a binder document, and open with Document Binder].
If the [Binder Document Selection - Document Binder] dialog box is displayed, proceed to step 5.
5.
If the [Binder Document Selection - Document Binder] dialog box is displayed, select [(Add to New Binder Document)] from [Binder Document to Add To] and click [OK].
Document Binder is started.
The documents are converted into a binder document and the converted binder document is displayed in the Document Binder screen.
6.
The converted binder document is saved in the library.
For details on how to save a binder document in a library with Document Binder, see the following.
