Sending Problems

Check the following first:
Make sure that the telephone line settings are properly configured.
Then, see the following sections:

Cannot Send a Fax.

See the following section:

Unable to Redial a Number from the History.

Check the setting for <Restrict History TX>.

Fax Number Confirmation is Required When Specifying a Destination.

Check the setting for <Fax No. Confirmation Re-Entry>.

Unable to Send a Fax over the Optical Line.

Use of the optical line is not guaranteed.

Memory is Insufficient to Send a Fax.

Large documents or high quality settings may exceed the available memory capacity. Select the appropriate image quality settings and try to send the fax again:
To maintain the quality of a large document, divide it into smaller batches and send them as separate faxes.
If the document contains fine text or photographs, send it directly rather than using a memory transmission.
If the document does not contain fine text or photographs, set the resolution to <200 x 100 dpi (Normal)>.
Print, send, or delete jobs stored in memory.

Transmission Speed is Too Slow.

Set a lower image quality. Setting the resolution to <200 x 100 dpi (Normal)> will reduce the transmission time.

Errors Occur Frequently during Sending.

Make sure that the telephone line is not receiving interference from nearby devices such as a microwave oven.

Sent Faxes Print Poorly at the Receiving Fax Machine (Spotting, Size Reductions, or Contrast Problems).

When a fax printed out by the recipient's machine has spots:
Make a copy on a blank sheet and check to see if there are any spots on the feeder's scanning area. Clean the feeder's scanning area to remove the spots if necessary. If the copy is not spotted, the problem may lie with the recipient's machine.
Make sure that the document is properly loaded.
When a fax printed out by the recipient's machine is smaller than its actual size:
Contact the recipient and ensure that the recipient is using the proper size setting for received faxes.
When the contrast of the printed fax is too light or dark:
Adjust the density setting.
Make sure that the feeder's scanning area is clean.

Distortion Patterns (moire) Appear On the Sent Faxes.

Select <Sharpness> from the Fax mode screen, and adjust to <-> level.
Select <Resolution> from the Fax mode screen, and then specify to <200 x 200 dpi (Photo)>.
