Descriptions of Settings

[Pure Black Text]
Enables you to select whether to print black (R=G=B=0) text using black toner only.
[Printer Default]
Uses the printer setting.
[Off]
Prints black using all toner colors.
[On]
Prints black using black toner only.
[Black Overprint]
When printing black text on a color background, enables you to firstly print the whole color background, then overlay the black text on top of the color background, preventing misregistration. This setting is available only when [Pure Black Text] is selected.
[Printer Default]
Uses the printer setting.
[Off]
Prints the color background with the foreground black areas left blank, then fills in the black foreground.
[On]
Prints the entire background in color, then overprints this with the black foreground.
[Combine Color Separations]
Enables you to select how to print separated CMYK data when printing separations from PostScript applications.
When you select [On] for this function, you may not be able to use the watermark, page layout, paper selection, poster, booklet printing, N on 1 printing (other than 1, 2, and 4), and CanoFine functions.
[Composite Overprint]
Enables you to overprint an overprint attribute object set from an application in its composite output state.
Since all of the colors used in the data set are overprinted on one plate, you can confirm the finished result without separating the colors.
[Spot Color Matching]
Specifies the optimum method of reproducing a spot color (special color). Using a named color profile specified in an application, you can convert colors to device-independent CMYK values that are closest to the spot colors. To do so, you must first download the named color profile to the printer using the resource downloader.
[Toner Density]
Enables you to adjust the toner density. This function is useful when you want to save toner, and to adjust the toner density when printing bar codes. If [Details] is displayed, you can adjust the density and perform fine adjustment of the density of each color in the [Toner Density Details] dialog box.
If you select [Printer Default], you may get an unintended print result depending on the setting at the printer. For example, setting [Printer Default] may result in lighter output than setting [-1 [Light]].
If [Store] or [Hold] is selected for [Output Method], you cannot adjust the toner density in [Details].
Functions that cannot be used with this function: [Toner Save] → [On]
[Brightness]
Enables you to select whether the brightness is set from the printer or the host.
Selecting this check box specifies if the brightness setting on the printer is adjusted at the host.
Select the check box and drag the slider to the left or right to make the image darker or lighter.
[Grayscale Profile]
Enables you to select whether a color-settings profile is used when printing in grayscale.
[RGB Color Input Adjustment]
Enables you to manually set the color settings. Clicking the [Settings] button displays a dialog box for specifying the color settings manually.
[Increase (Color)]
Click the button of the color you want to strengthen. You can adjust the color by clicking and dragging the image toward the color(s) you want to strengthen.
[Brightness]
Adjust the brightness with the slide bar.
[Contrast]
Adjust the contrast with the slide bar.
[Restore Defaults]
Returns all the settings to their standard (default) values.
[Use CanoFine]
Automatically adjusts the color of bitmaps in the document to print. For example, use this function to print images captured with a digital camera. Click [Settings] to configure detailed settings.
[Single-page Batch Processing]
Processes multiple bitmaps on a page as a single data item. Select this check box to print rotated bitmaps, or bitmaps with shapes cut out of them.
[Enhanced Saturation]
Emphasizes color intensity for CanoFine processing.
[Distinguish between Color/B&W Pages at Host]
Enables the host computer to distinguish whether the document is to be printed in color or black-and-white.
If there is a large amount of bitmap data included in the print data, the document is printed in color.
[Apply Color/B&W Settings from Applications]
Prints with priority given to the color print setting or black and white print settings of the application.
