Special Mode

Use the Special Mode settings to fix print quality problems.
Read the following carefully before changing the settings.
IMPORTANT
Maintain the default settings under normal conditions:
Change the settings only when the problems mentioned below occur.

Settings That Can Be Specified From the Operation Panel

Depending on the paper type or environment, vertical streaks may appear on printed paper. In this case, change this setting.
The effect becomes greater as the number goes up.

Change of paper type or environment may reduce the streaks, even without changing the setting.
Outlines of printed text or images may be less clear, or images may be slightly jagged.
Special Mode C 
Off, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3
After replacing the toner cartridge or when using a toner cartridge after a long time, vertical streaks may appear on printed documents. In this case, change this setting.
The effect becomes greater as the number goes up.

Change of paper type or environment may reduce the streaks, even without changing the setting.
As you select an option that has stronger effect, printing speed becomes slower.
Special Mode D
Off, Mode 1, Mode 2
Depending on the paper type or environment, printed paper may curl or crease. In this case, change this setting.
The effect becomes greater as the number goes up.

Change of paper type or environment may reduce the curl or wrinkle problem, even without changing the setting.
This setting is available when
ㆍ<Paper Type> is set to <Plain (60-90 g/~m²)>, <Plain L (60-90 g/~m²)>, <Heavy 1 (90-163 g/~m²)>, <Heavy 2 (105-163 g/~m²)>, <Rough (60-163 g/~m²)>, or <Labels>.
As you select an option that has stronger effect, printing speed becomes slower.
Special Mode H
Off, On
Depending on the paper type (especially when using thick paper) or environment (especially in dry environments), you could see the spots of scattered toner, around the text or patterns. In this case, set this setting to <On>.
If you use this mode, printing quality may become lower depending on the paper type (especially when using thin paper) or environment (especially in wet environments).

Press [] or [] to highlight <Adjustment/Maintenance>, and then press [OK].

The more effective the setting becomes, the lower the density. Additionally, the outline of text and images may be reproduced less clearly, and images may appear slightly jagged.
Special Print Mode
Off, Special Settings1, Special Settings 2
[Off]
Prints without applying the special print mode.
[Special Settings 1]
If barcodes printed with your machine cannot be read, set this setting to [Special Settings 1] to reduce the problem.
When [Special Settings 1] is selected, printing density is lower than when [Off] is selected. Also, text or lines may be less clear.
[Special Settings 2]
When printing high contrast documents, outlines of printed text or image may become white. Set this setting to [Special Settings 2] to reduce the problem.
When [Special Settings 2] is selected, printing density is lower than when [Off] or [Special Settings 1] is selected. Also, text or lines may be less clear.

Specifying Special Mode Settings In the Printer Driver

Click the [Finishing] tab.
