Batch Converting Annotations Created with a Previous Version of Desktop to an Adobe Acrobat Compatible Format

You can batch convert annotations created with Desktop V2.0.1 or earlier by using the Annotation Convert Tool. After conversion is complete, you can display, print, and edit annotations using other PDF viewing software such as Desktop and Adobe Acrobat.

NOTE
Annotations made with this version of Desktop can be viewed in a PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader without conversion.
The conversion targets are PDF documents and IWB documents with annotations created with a previous version.
You can also convert previously registered libraries and folders from Browser. For more information, see the following.

Batch Converting to an Adobe Acrobat Compatible Format

Convert the annotations by the library or folder unit.
NOTE
The document prior to conversion is overwritten with the converted document.
1.
Run Annotation Convert Tool.
The [Annotation Convert Tool] dialog box is displayed.
NOTE
Double-click "iWDT.AnnotationConvertTool.exe" in the folder where Desktop is installed (by default, "C:\Program Files\Canon\iR ADVANCE\Desktop").

Click [Browse] and specify the library or folder in which the documents whose annotations you want to convert are registered.

Select the [Forcibly convert an annotation with characters or images that cannot be rendered] check box, as necessary.
NOTE
When this is selected, the following documents are also converted. Annotations that contain unprintable characters/images, and the Reader Extensions function are deleted when performing conversion.

PDF documents in the PDF/A format will no longer conform to the PDF/A format.

Select the [Convert a password-protected PDF document together] check box, as necessary.
NOTE
When this is selected, and if the PDF document is password protected, the password input screen is displayed.
When this check box is deselected, password-protected PDF documents will not be converted.

Click [OK].
Documents set for conversion are searched for, and a screen to confirm whether you want to execute conversion is displayed.
NOTE
If an inconvertible library or folder is selected, an error message is displayed.

Click [Yes].
When document conversion is complete, the conversion complete dialog box is displayed.
NOTE
If there are documents for which conversion failed, the conversion complete dialog box displays the names and status of the documents for which conversion failed.
The contents displayed in the conversion complete dialog box can be exported as a CSV file. For details on the operation procedure, see the following.

Click [OK] in the conversion complete dialog box.

Exporting the List of Documents That Could Not Be Converted

You can export the list of documents that could not be converted into annotations in the new version, as a CSV file.

Click [Export List] in the conversion complete dialog box.
The [Export Document List] dialog box is displayed.

Select a folder to save the CSV file to, and then click [Save].
The CSV file is saved in the selected destination.
