Connecting a Mobile Device Directly to the Machine (Direct Connection)
Connect a mobile device directly to the machine via Wi-Fi. You can directly connect it to the machine without using wireless LAN. You must manually connect the mobile device each time you use the machine.
Number of Mobile Devices that Can Be Directly Connected to the Machine at the Same Time
Access Point Mode: one (default) to five devices
Wi-Fi Direct: one device only
* There are two modes for directly connecting a mobile device to the machine: Access Point Mode and Wi-Fi Direct. You can determine which mode the machine is set to on the screen in Step
3.

On the control panel, press [Mobile Portal] in the [Home] screen.
[Home] ScreenThe [Mobile Portal] screen is displayed.

Press [Enable] in [Direct Connection].
The machine enters waiting state for Direct Connection.
Within 5 minutes of pressing [Connect], you must directly connect the mobile device.
When [End] or [Disconnect] Is Displayed
Confirm the message displayed on the [Mobile Portal] screen.
When [Ready to connect to mobile devices.] Is Displayed
When [Number of mobile devices connected: n] (Where n Is a Number) Is Displayed
If the number of connected mobile devices has not reached the maximum, proceed to Step
3.
If the maximum number of connected mobile devices has been reached, you cannot connect a new mobile device until a connected mobile device is disconnected. To disconnect a connected mobile device, press [Disconnect]
[Yes].
Directly connect the mobile device.
The connection method varies depending on the content displayed in the [Mobile Portal] screen.
Connecting with Access Point Mode

Connect to the machine from a mobile device.
To Connect by Manually Configuring the Wi-Fi Settings
In the Wi-Fi settings of the mobile device, select the SSID (network name) displayed on the screen of the machine, and enter the network key (password).

To Connect by Scanning the QR Code with the Standard Camera App (iOS11 or Later)
Open the standard camera app on the iOS device, and scan the QR code displayed on the screen of the machine.
To Connect by Scanning the QR Code with Canon PRINT Business
Open Canon PRINT Business, and scan the QR code displayed on the screen of the machine.

Check that the mobile device is connected on the [Mobile Portal] screen.
Press [Mobile Dev. Info] to display the information of the mobile device connected to the machine with Direct Connection.

When you have completed your operations on the mobile device, press [Disconnect] on the [Mobile Portal] screen
[Yes].
The direct connection is terminated.
If multiple mobile devices are connected, all devices are disconnected.
IMPORTANT
You may not be able to connect to the Internet during Direct Connection depending on the mobile device.
The power-saving effect of Sleep Mode decreases when using Direct Connection.
The IP address of the mobile device is set automatically. If you set the IP address manually, communication using Direct Connection may not be performed correctly.
NOTE
Automatic Termination of Direct Connection
The direct connection is automatically terminated in the following cases:
When Direct Connection is configured to terminate automatically
When no data is sent or received between the mobile device and the machine for a while
When the wireless LAN connection of the machine is terminated

Establish a connection from the machine or a mobile device.
Connecting from a Mobile Device
In the Wi-Fi Direct settings of the mobile device, select the device name of the machine to connect from among the detected devices that support Wi-Fi Direct.

Confirm the device name of the machine displayed on the [Mobile Portal] screen.

In the Wi-Fi Direct settings of the mobile device, select the device name of the machine.

When the message [A connection request has been accepted. Do you want to approve the request?] appears on the screen of the machine, press [Yes].
Connecting from the Machine
On the control panel of the machine, select the mobile device to connect from among the detected devices that support Wi-Fi Direct.

On the [Mobile Portal] screen, select the name of the mobile device to connect, and press [Connect].

When a message requesting a connection appears on the mobile device, allow the connection.

When [Connection to a mobile device was successful.] appears on the screen of the machine, press [OK].
The screen returns to the [Mobile Portal] screen.

When you have completed your operations on the mobile device, press [Disconnect] on the [Mobile Portal] screen
[Yes].
The direct connection is terminated.
IMPORTANT
You may not be able to connect to the Internet during Direct Connection depending on the mobile device.
