[Device Settings] Tab (Settings)

How to display the [Device Settings] tab:
Click [
] (Start) → [Devices and Printers].
The above is for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.
For Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2: From the desktop, display the charm bar to the right of the screen, and click or tap [
Settings] → [Control Panel] → [Devices and Printers].
For Windows Vista and Server 2008: Click [
] (Start) → [Control Panel] → [Printers].
For Windows Server 2003 and Server 2003 R2: Click [Start] → [Printers and Faxes] (or [Start] → [Control Panel] → [Printers and Other Hardware] → [Printers and Faxes]).
Right-click the icon of the printer you are using → click [Printer properties] (or [Properties]).
Click the [Device Settings] tab.
Descriptions of Settings
[Device Information]
Displays whether the device status is set automatically or manually. Clicking [
] (Retrieve Device Status Information) retrieves the device status from the printer.
[Device Type]
Sets the type of printer.
When changing [Device Type], do not use profiles registered prior to the change. Cases where it has been changed manually are the same as those where it has been changed automatically by acquiring the device status.

[Finishing Settings]
[2-sided Printing]
Select this to use the 2-sided printing function.
[Offset]
Select this to use the offset function.
[Staple]
Select this to use the stapling function.
[Saddle Stitch]
Select this to use the saddle stitching function.
[Punch]
Select this to use the hole punch function and set the type of hole punch.
[Paper Source Settings]
[Paper Source Options]
Displays the paper source options.
[Paper Size Settings]
[Paper Source]
Set the paper source options in the [Paper Source] dialog box.
[Other Settings]
[Spooling at Host]
Enables you to select whether processing of the print data is performed at the host (computer) or at the printer with processing at the host disabled. If you click [Auto], processing is performed at the printer when processing is possible using only the printer functions, increasing the print speed.
When you select [Disabled], you may not be able to set the following functions.
[Basic Settings] or [Page Setup] tab → [Page Layout]
[Page Setup] tab → [Watermark]
[Page Setup] tab → [Page Options] → [Layout Options]
[Basic Settings] or [Finishing] tab → [Booklet]
[Paper Source] tab → [Paper Selection]
The output result (appearance) for overlay printing differ when you select [Auto] or [Enabled] and when you select [Disabled].

[Use Department ID Management]
Enables printing management with department IDs and PINs. You can configure detailed settings by clicking [Settings] (
[Department ID/PIN Settings] Dialog Box).
[Set User Information]
Enables you to set a user name for print data and a PIN for secured printing. You can configure detailed settings by clicking [Settings] (
[User Information Settings] Dialog Box).
[About]
Displays information about the printer driver version.
[Language Settings]
Enables you to set the display language.
[Add-in Information]
Displays information concerning add-in modules (expanded functions) added to the printer driver.
[Function]
Displays the controller function ID and function version in the
[Device Function Settings] Dialog Box.
[Details]
In the
[Detailed Settings] Dialog Box ([Device Settings] Tab), you can set the printer settings displayed in each tab of the printer driver.
