Using the Same Settings Among Multiple Canon Multifunction Machines (Device Information Distribution)

You can distribute the device information (such as various setting values and Address Book information) set on the Canon multifunction machine used as the host machine to other Canon multifunction machines used as client machines on the network and set such information automatically on the client machines. This saves you the time and effort to setting the device information on each machine when new multifunction machines are installed on the network and allows you to manage and operate the multiple multifunction machines using the same configuration.
* The device information is distributed after being encrypted using TLS.

Device Information Distribution Overview and Points to Note

Models That Support Device Information Distribution
You can distribute the device information when both the host machine and client machines are imageFORCE or imageRUNNER ADVANCE series models.
Depending on the settings of the client machine, it can receive the device information distributed from a Canon multifunction machine of a different model.
Device Information to Be Distributed
Set the device information to be distributed on the host machine. Set whether or not to receive that information on each client machine.
Whether the [Settings/Registration] menu items are included in the device information to be distributed depends on the setting items. For details about whether each item is included in the Device Information Distribution, see the following lists: Settings That Can Be Distributed, Imported, and Exported
Depending on the installation status of optional equipment, some device information may not be distributed properly.
Points to Note for Device Information Distribution
Do not turn OFF the multifunction machine until the distribution preparation on the host machine or the update of the received data on the client machine is complete. Otherwise, the multifunction machine may fail.
* It may take a few minutes until the distribution preparation or the update after receiving the information is complete.
It is recommended that the device information be distributed when no users are using the machines.
The settings update screen is displayed on the client machine that has received the device information, and you cannot perform any operation on the machine until the update is complete.
The device information may not be received when the client machine is processing other data.
Canceling the Distribution
You can perform the operations described below on the client machine to restore the device information that existed before the update was performed.
Administrator privileges are required. The machine must be restarted to apply the cancellation.
Log in to the machine as an administrator  [ Settings/Registration]  [Management Settings]  [Device Management]  [Device Information Distribution Settings]  [Restore Data]  select the data to be restored  [Start]  [Yes]
* You can only undo the last update.
* When you use a Confidential Fax Inbox, the [URL Send Settings] configuration of the Confidential Fax Inbox may be deleted unless you restore both the [Settings/Regist. Value] and [Address Book] data at the same time.

Device Information Distribution Flow

The following is the flow of Device Information Distribution.
Step 1
Check that the host machine and client machines are connected properly.
Set the key and certificate to use for TLS encrypted communication on each client machine.
Step 2
Set the device information to be received on each client machine.
Step 3
Register the client machines to be the distribution destinations on the host machine.
Step 4
If you want user authentication to be performed when receiving the device information, configure the user authentication settings on the host machine and client machines.
* If you do not want user authentication to be performed when the device information is received, the System Manager ID and PIN of the host machine and client machine need to match. Changing the Department ID and PIN for the Administrator
Step 5
Distribute the device information.
Step 6
Check the logs for the distribution and reception on the host machine and client machines.
