Configuring the Authentication Functions and Login Screen
You can configure the login method and authentication system to use for user authentication and the login screen display method. You can also use user authentication when printing, scanning, and sending faxes from a computer.
Configuring the Login Method and Authentication System
Specify the login method to use with user authentication and the authentication system, and start user authentication.
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
On the control panel, select [
Settings/Registration] in the [Home] screen or other screen, and then select [Management Settings] to configure the settings.
[Use User Authentication]Administrator privileges are required. The machine must be restarted to apply the settings.

Log in to Remote UI as an administrator.

On the Portal page of Remote UI, click [Settings/Registration].

[Basic Settings]
[Edit].
The [Edit Basic Settings] screen is displayed.

Select the [Use the user authentication function] checkbox.
In [Authentication Functions to Use], select the checkbox for the login method that you want to use.
The [Keyboard Authentication] checkbox is automatically selected when you select the following checkboxes:
[Mobile Authentication]
[Picture Login]
* When Picture Login is used, the authentication destination for keyboard authentication is always the local device. Do not use Picture Login if you want to log in to the machine as a registered user on the authentication server.

Configure the authentication system and function settings in [Authentication Settings] and [Other Settings].

Configure the settings for other authentication functions or for the functions you want to restrict, as needed.

Click [Update].

The settings are applied.
Configuring the Login Screen Display Method
Configure the settings for when to display the login screen. You can also import an image file to the machine and change the background image of the login screen.
* Images with the following properties can be imported as the background of the login screen:
File size: 1024 KB or less
File extension: .jpg, .jpeg, .png
Image size: 800 pixels x 486 pixels or less
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
On the control panel, select [
Settings/Registration] in the [Home] screen or other screen, and then select [Management Settings] to configure the settings.
[Login Screen Display Settings]Administrator privileges are required.

Log in to Remote UI as an administrator.

The [Edit Control Panel Settings] screen is displayed.
In [Login Settings], specify when the login screen is displayed.
Displaying the Login Screen at the Start of Operations
Select [Display login screen when operation is started on the device].
You must log in to use the machine.
Displaying the Login Screen after Selecting a Function
Select [Display login screen when functions requiring authentication are selected], and select the checkboxes of the functions to display the login screen.
Login is required only when using the selected functions.
The functions that are not selected will be available to anyone without logging in.

Specify a background image in [Login Screen Background Settings], as needed.
To change the background image of the login screen, click [Import Custom Image], import the image you want to use as the background, and then select [Custom Image].

Click [Update].
The settings are applied.

Log out from Remote UI.
NOTE
In connection with the settings in Step
4, login users are restricted from operating the following jobs of other users on the [Check Status] screen:
When [Display login screen when operation is started on the device] is selected
Operations are restricted for jobs in which data is not received.
When [Display login screen when functions requiring authentication are selected] is selected
Operations are restricted for jobs corresponding to functions selected in [Select Function That Will Require Authentication] (except for RX Jobs).
Example: When [Fax] is selected
Operations of sending jobs are restricted.
If you do not want to set these restrictions, change the operation restriction settings after specifying the login screen display method.
[Restrict Access to Other User Jobs]Using User Authentication When Printing, Scanning, and Sending Faxes from a Computer
You can use user authentication for printing, scanning, or sending faxes from a computer, to prevent these operations from being performed if the user cannot be identified.
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
On the control panel, select [
Settings/Registration] in the [Home] screen or other screen, and then select [Management Settings] to configure the settings.
[Restrict Job from Remote Device without User Auth.]Administrator privileges are required. The machine must be restarted to apply the settings.
