Faxing

Faxing is the sending and receiving of documents and photos as black and white images over a telephone line. You can also send and receive faxes via the Internet without using a telephone line.

Sending Faxes

The following two methods are available.
Sending a Fax from the Machine
You can scan a document, photo, or other printed material (original) with the machine, convert it to a black and white image, and send it.
You can also automatically forward or store sent faxes to a specific destination.
Sending a Fax from a Computer
You can convert a document or photo to a black and white image and send it via a fax driver installed on a computer.
You can send a fax in the same way as printing a document or photo from a computer. To send a fax, you do not need to prepare printed materials.
* In macOS, you can use the AirPrint function that is standard in the OS to send data from a computer without having to install a fax driver. Using AirPrint to Print and Scan Data and Send Faxes

Receiving Faxes

The machine receives incoming faxes automatically without ringing.
You can also forward or store received faxes to a specific destination.

Sending and Receiving Internet Faxes

Internet Fax (I-Fax) is a function for sending and receiving faxes via the Internet.
Since faxes are sent without using a telephone line, you can lower your communication costs. When you receive an I-Fax, the received data is printed automatically.
The machines for sending and receiving I-Faxes must support I-Fax technology.

Sending and Receiving Faxes via a Canon Multifunction Machine (Remote Fax)

You can send and receive faxes with a Canon multifunction machine that does not have a fax function, by using the line of a different Canon multifunction machine with a fax function on the same network.
Since you can share the fax function and telephone line between devices, you can reduce the cost of installing the function and line, and use faxes more efficiently.
* You can use Remote Fax when both multifunction machines are imageFORCE or imageRUNNER ADVANCE series models.

Sending Faxes Using a Fax Server

You can send faxes using a fax server.

Using IP Fax
You can use IP Fax if the IP FAX Expansion Kit is installed.
IP Fax is a function to send and receive faxes over a TCP/IP network such as an office LAN.
Since faxes are sent and received between devices within the same network, you can reduce communication costs and achieve a faster communication speed than that of normal faxes.
