Managing the Machine
This section describes the management functions required to operate the machine.
Setting the Date and Time and Screen
Setting the Date and Time
Set the date and time for the machine. The date and time settings are used as the reference for the functions that use the date and time information, and therefore, they need to be set accurately.
Managing and Setting the Screen
You can configure the display and operability settings of the [Home] screen, and configure the settings to quickly call up frequently used functions and settings. You can also display notices to users on the machine screens.
Monitoring the Usage Status and Settings of the Machine
Checking the Operation Status and Changing the Settings (Remote UI)
You can use a web browser on a computer to check the operation status of the machine, change the machine settings, and register destinations to the Address Book. You can manage the machine remotely. You can also perform time-consuming setting and registration operations efficiently on the computer.
Checking the Usage Status and Settings
You can check the total numbers of pages used on the machine and the option configuration, and you can print and view the communication results, settings, and other reports and lists. You can also receive e-mail notifications when a toner cartridge needs to be changed or there is a problem that needs to be fixed, such as jammed paper.
Managing the Settings and Data
Sharing the Settings with Multiple Canon Multifunction Machines
You can distribute information such as the setting values and Address Book information on the Canon multifunction machine used as the host machine to other Canon multifunction machines used as client machines on the network and set such information automatically on the client machines. This saves you the time and effort to configure the settings on new multifunction machines installed on the network and allows you to manage and operate the multiple machines using the same configuration.
Managing and Backing Up the Settings and Data
You can use the import and export functions to back up the Address Book and other settings information or share such information with other Canon multifunction machines.
You can also back up the data saved in the storage space on the machine, such as the Mail Box and the Memory RX Inbox. If by any chance the data on the machine is corrupted, you can restore the data using the backup data.
Initializing the Settings and Data
You should initialize all settings and data when replacing or disposing of the machine. Initializing the machine prevents access to confidential information and unauthorized use by third parties. You can initialize some functions individually.
Managing Firmware and System Options
Updating the Firmware
An updated version of the firmware is available whenever functions are added or the software is upgraded. Update the firmware on the machine when a firmware update is available.
Installing System Options and MEAP Applications
You can expand the number of available functions and further enhance the performance of the machine by installing system options and MEAP applications.
