Scanning

You can scan documents, photos, and other printed material ("originals") and convert them into data. This converted data ("scanned data") can then be sent and saved as an image or PDF file using the following methods.

Sending by E-mail or to a Shared Folder or File Server

Send the scanned data to the following destinations:
E-mail
Shared folder on a computer
File server (FTP server, Windows server, etc.)
You can specify multiple types of destinations at the same time.
For example, by sending scanned data to an e-mail address and shared folder simultaneously, you can back up data sent by e-mail by sending it to a shared folder at the same time.
* You can also send scanned data to Mail Box and Advanced Space.
* You can also send scanned data to a fax destination depending on the machine settings. [Display Fax Function]

Saving to Mail Box, Advanced Space, and Windows Server

Save scanned data to following locations:
Mail Box or Advanced Space on the machine
Advanced Space on another machine
Windows server
The store location is displayed on the control panel of the machine, so you can confirm the store location and save scanned data.
When saving scanned data to Advanced Space or Windows server, you can also create a destination folder on the control panel of the machine and change the folder name before saving the data.
* For details about Mail Box or Advanced Space, see the following:

Saving to a USB Memory Device

You can save scanned data to a USB memory device connected to the machine.
This is convenient when using scanned data on a computer without a network connection or when on the go.

Saving to a Computer (Scanning from a Computer)

Save scanned data to a (Windows) computer connected to the machine.
You can set the format and save location when scanning from a computer. This method lets you see the scanned data immediately on the computer screen so you can check the image quality and make adjustments.
* In macOS, you can use the AirPrint function, which is standard in the OS, to scan data from a computer without having to install a scanner driver. Using AirPrint to Print and Scan Data and Send Faxes
