You can set S/MIME to encrypt or add a digital signature to an e-mail or I-Fax.
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer. On the control panel, select [ Settings/Registration] in the [Home] screen or other screen, and then select [Function Settings] to configure the settings. [S/MIME Settings] Administrator or DeviceAdmin privileges are required.
On the Portal page of Remote UI, click [Settings/Registration]. Remote UI Portal Page

Click [Send] [S/MIME Settings].
The [S/MIME Settings] screen is displayed.

Configure the encryption and digital signature settings.
[Encryption Settings]
To encrypt e-mail and I-Faxes, select [Always Encrypt] or [Only Encrypt If Certificate].
Select [Always Encrypt] if you want to encrypt all e-mail and I-Faxes sent from the machine.
Select [Only Encrypt If Certificate] if you want to perform encryption only when the sending destination is included in the S/MIME certificate.
[Add Digital Signatures]
Select this checkbox to add a digital signature to e-mails and I-Faxes. A digital signature is always added when encrypting e-mail and I-Faxes.
* Make sure to select this checkbox, as a digital signature is required when e-mail and I-Faxes are encrypted.
[Encryption Algorithm]
When encrypting e-mails and I-Faxes, select the encryption algorithm to be used.
[Signature Algorithm]
When adding the digital signature to e-mails and I-Faxes, select the signature algorithm to be used.
[Verify Signature upon Receipt]
Select this checkbox to verify a digital signature of e-mails and I-Faxes upon receipt.
[Print Signature upon Receipt]
Select this checkbox to print the digital signature information of e-mails and I-Faxes upon receipt. When the checkbox is selected, the e-mail message will be printed with the digital signature information added.
